You make it look simple, and have a great demeanor for what you do. Great explanations, and definitely plan to watch your other presentations. My budget, and output won’t support getting a commercial machine yet. I did get a Singer HD6380M as I am sure it will be enough for the lightweight banner materials I will be doing ON OCCASION. I don’t do a lot of banners until recently, but am tired, and don’t really like the tape method. Should that increase, may consider a heavier machine. Highly underrated video, if you're still around, what needles are you using for these?

Well thanks Goat. I made this video more than 15 years ago and was just adlibbing without a script. At that time I was sewing a lot of vinyl banners. Most walking foot machines like the Juki 1541 in this video use 135/17 size needles and I generally use #18, #19, or #20 needles. Sewing mechanics always want you to use heavier needles like #22's but you don't need that heavy a needle for a banner and there's no reason to punch such large holes into vinyl. I like Schmetz and Groz-Becker needles but I've used Organ and others and they were fine. These are standard machine needles - sometimes called Round/Sharp but they are not special leather needles. You can buy them in lots of places - the Sailrite people sell them and are helpful if you have any questions. Good luck and best wishes, Terry Sheban/Super Stitches

Sorry for the slow response - I was working out of town.. This machine is a juki 1541 walking foot and works well with #69 nylon thread for banners. Some people use heavier nylon thread like #92 but it's really not necessary. You could also use polyester Tex 90 thread which is about as strong as 69 nylon. This machine uses 135/17 type needles and for banners we typically use #19, or #20 or #21 size needles. Mechanics always want you to use larger needles like #22 but these are not needed and punch bigger holes in the banner. Good luck with your sewing Terry Sheban
