My first experience with raiding was not a pleasant one: I would spend more money on my soldiers' wages than I would make by plundering villages, and that's just one out many problems I had with this playstyle; But I will not talk about them, because they're not important. What is important is that I eventually found the solutions to ALL of those problems, and their implementation made the outlaw playstyle one of the most enjoyable ways to play this game.
Smithing is still the most overpowered method of earning money, and trading paves the way towards complete world domination, but in terms of fun, roleplaying as the Scum of the Earth ranks number one! Long term planning and winning Mr. Popularity contests aren't really the Raider's specialty, but Bannerlord is a sandbox, not a scripted adventure with just one goal.
So I took everything I learned about raiding and compiled all that info into one MASSIVE Guide, probably over an hour long, I'll know exactly once all its parts are finished and uploaded.
This video is Part 1 of that enormous Raider Guide, and today we talk about what everyone needs to know to get the most out of banditry: the various raiding techniques that actually make this playstyle viable. Extortion, Robbery, Squeezing, Reposession... those are just a few ways of earning a living when you operate outside of Calradian Law.
In part 2 we'll discuss the Rogue Build that I use, as well as the skills I focus on and how I train them. In part 3 we'll take a look at the best troops to recruit into your gang, and part 4 will have various tips and tricks that didn't fit in previous videos. And of course, once this is all done, I'll dedicate some time to Bandit's Ballad, the raider playthrough series that a lot of you have requested.

There's no need for that, we can win without shadow accounts. Besides, KZbin values "engagement" more than likes, and their algorithm picks up the difference... Any like that comes from a "burner account" is simply not as valuable as likes from active accounts. I mean, I appreciate your dedication, but 1 like is enough... And maybe in the future, there will be other ways of helping out. :)

It seems like the money you get from raiding is also dependent on the village money, if you took all their spare change and they just left for town you get less but at one village I got over 100 gold per tick.

I wish they had implemented the crime lord features they showcased a couple of years before the release. I really dig the idea of this playstyle yet I cannot forget my hype when I saw I can be a crime kingpin in the game, with armed thugs and gangs of new york style showdowns in cities.

Well done, one of subs told me you did this as I have a bandit game going and love this style, making do on beta branch with no mods so nice to see someone else doing it For laborers, khuzuit are best did a video showing how much u can get and I think I have maxed out near 43k for 1 turn in And at the end all cav is what I am doing right now, I like battania and I push them to forest which gives me a .43 speed advantage which I never get with khuzait bonus

Battanian + horse archers is my standard setup for raiding. Infantry is better for trading, but as an outlaw, you need all the speed you can get.

I'm in my 3rd raider built and some tips I already figured but this video is great and it is a lot of knowledge in one place! Thank you Halcylion! 1.5.10 made ransom the prisioners better for Roguery XP... I'm doing that since day one. 6xp based for any selling prisioner, if you have 9 learning you can get 54xp per prisioner! 100 prisioners 5400xp!

There is a glitch - or not really - that allows you to trade while in disguise. All you have to do is to clear out one of the local gang turf (the clearing, the waterfront, and the backstreets), then choose to wait and have another fight with the local gang leader that used to own it. After that, you'll find yourself in your normal civil cloth again, and also have full access to the town's functionalities- all except one, the keep, you can still only scout the keep. The last part is why I said it might not be a "bug" bug. My headcanon was that after beating the gang leader, your character becomes a new boss in the city, so everybody else was forced to give him some respect, granting him conveniences here and there if need be. But after you leave the city with your men, the old gang moves back in(the three POI do respawn over time), so all is lost unless you do it all over.

I recommend you play on the beta 1.5.10. Last I played on 1.5.9, the game was rather unstable, but those issues are gone in this last beta patch, which also brings some much needed gameplay changes. I also advise you to start a new campaign on this version, because if I load an old save-game, it has performance issues.

I am not proud of this but in my Valandian Mercenary play though I'll end a contract and switch sides right before a battle depending on who's gonna win. Recently I switched sides 3 times (can't even tell imperial factions apart anyway) and sieged to the same city 3 times within a week, and routinely kept selling the I'll gotten loot back to the city I ransacked. Somehow I've made alot of money doing this.

WARNING if you're a bandit with a lot of enemies dont even enter the Balgard peninsula. With the amount of castles to spot you on your journey you will be painfully surprised by how few escape options you have when sturgia sends every goddamn man your way.

A bandit build can be profitable by just getting wages from your bandits alone lol. You can get all the perks that reduces wage amount into the negatives and then you start getting paid to have a bandit army.

so i have 3 questions. 1) im ok at the early game, but i seem to have issues transitioning from sworn lord to independent, mostly due to finding it hard to make $$ using passive income....any advice? 2) what are your thoughts on only using tier 3 troops (so trained imperial infantry for example) as they seem to be the best value for $$ 3) best way to level up "leadership"?

As for question 2, sticking to T3 troops is fine for the early to mid game... But when you start engaging in large scale warfare and sieges, they won't survive for long, so it's best to max them out. Give them to a lord for free and wait for him to sell them. Once he has a few million, sell him your other swords. Or just check the description. Someone else has discovered an even more efficient method, and I've linked his video.

Is there a fix for the game getting stuck in loading screen when trying to manually fight a caravan?

Alt+F4? If that doesn't work, try reverting the game to a previous version. If you don't know how to do that, you go to steam, right click Bannerlord in your library, click properties > betas > drop down menu > 1.5.8. or 1.5.7., or keep going until you find a version that doesn't have the issue you're having. I never got stuck in a loading screen in almost 900 hours of playing the game since its release, so maybe it's something from your computer, or mods you've installed or anything else.

@@Halcylion Actually alt+F4 closes the loading screen, but the music still plays and taskmanager sill shows bannerlord running in the process tab. No mods installed, so I think it's hardware issues. I'll have to try changing the game version, thanks for that.

I just passed day 2,000 in the current beta patch....I really hope the devs re-vamp raiding because the Caravan spam across the map is intense. I Usually ignored them as a merc since killing lords armies pay out way more then a tiny caravan. I am now forced to consider thinning out the caravans....

Sucks that you need max trade to buy castles now. What's the best way to level it? I'm at like 250 trade doing money printing mode and it takes like 20 minutes to get 1 point

have you checked my 1.5.4. Updated Trade Guide? In it I show some tactics that helped me level up trading past 225 quite rapidly. Money printer mode is reliable, but not the fastest method of growth.

great video, one question though: when I obliterate a caravan/villager party for refusing to pay and let a few of them live, they actually vanish from the map for me as if I killed all of them, and I never get another chance to ask them for gold. what could I be doing wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong. The system was changed recently, and now, the ones who escape become prisoners instead of being placed back on the map. What you get the first time is all you're going to get. I actually have a new raid guide coming up... either today or tomorrow, so be on the lookout for that. :)

It depends, I can play with an ok computer. I think the most it'll affect you if you have a bad computer is the number of Ai you can have in a battle and the graphics
