Dubov makes chess interesting, mostly because when I think of a move he plays it. Which for me is shocking as he is so good. One of the simplest and best out there

The game at 32:23 is just so strange I can't really even describe how I feel about it. I don't understand anything in the opening. I feel like black is just much better but Daniil just plays confidently like he thinks everything is going well, but then also says something to the effect of "okay maybe black is still slightly better". He makes crazy looking (to patzer eyes) moves like e4 and dxc5 and I just can't process what his mind is thinking about this position. The position seems terrible. Then he just wins the game out of nowhere. Love the play of Daniil. He makes me ask new questions of chess.

E4 is for take the horse of protect house H5.
@XadrezcomKau3 жыл бұрын
And dxc5 is for provocating opponent play horse takes on c3, bxc3, bishop takes c3 (check), bishop d2 and bishop takes rook in A1 - queen takes bishop in A1. This position is very good to white, because oponente king have a lot of problems.

There is no magic in chess. After Bb5+ the evaluation is -1.9. Dubov proceed to play all the best moves. The opponent overestimates the advantage and plays some intuitive moves with poor strategical plan. In the end they were just enough for him to equalize and then win. @t

Pretty much any super GM playing against a guy that only plays in his spare time. They'll always convert any position, winning or losing into complete obliteration of their opponents

Thank you, very good games! And as my brother used to say, when someone told him to comb his hair -- it took all night to get it to look like that, why ruin it?! In case that's useful. I dont think anyone here cares, but.... Ggs & thx again!

Flagging your opponent means to play fast so your opponent runs out of time and you win.

Also, the reason its called what its called is because in older chess clocks, when the clock reached 0, a flag used to drop/raise (depending on the model) and that was the indication that the player has "flagged" or run out of time.
