In this video I refit the engine to the BSA Bantam D7, install and connect the CDI and check for a spark.
Thanks for watching, please like and subscribe.
Best wishes, Dean.

My apologies, I somehow managed to miss out the clip of the CDI wiring being connected. Thankfully, you didn't miss much. Best wishes, Dean.

Another great video Dean. With CDI's a lot of people think the spark is weaker than the original points system. CDI's spark with a greater intensity at a shorter duration, therefore seem "weaker" than they appear. I've had plenty of people say "the unit isn't sparking". I tell them to fit it and start the bike, or do as you did and check spark in the dark. It always runs! The main wire to the module from the stator is designed to follow the spine of the frame. The bike looks in very good overall condition and can't wait to see it run..........

I can't either Bones. Exciting times. The spark is definitely a strong one, I hardly had to kick it. I'm very pleased that I managed to find this system, it's a credit to the bloke that designed it! I used to use a slightly hybrid version of the original East German CDI system on my tuned Simsons, they went like stink so I'm very much sold on the concept. The Jawa is looking fantastic by the way. Best wishes, Dean.

Excellent! Love to see the dynafile in action. The Cdi system is brilliant. Good spark. It is really coming together now from when the engine was in bits when Meg and I saw it. Can't wait to see it run!

@@retromechanicalengineer It now seems long ago that you mig welded the broken fins after the rebore. I remember looking at that with you in your workshop.

Coming along nicely, my D1 plunger has a welded on bracket under the tank (standard fitment) which I used to attach my electrics plate, pity BSA didn't fit same to the D7, much more secure than using P-clips.

To be fair, they are pretty good. I don't think I'll have any issues with them. A solid bracket would be a gold plated solution though. Best wishes, Dean.

I love two stroke bikes. Very unique motorcycle. I never knew BSA ever made one. Looks like you’re doing a nice job at restoring. Btw, Dale Sweger sent me.

Welcome aboard Noah, glad to have you here. Good old Dale. The Bantam only came about as a result of war reparations after WWII. The original design was taken from the German DKW. Best wishes, Dean.

@@noahzark7975 you are welcome mate. We weren't the only ones who benefited from this design, look up the Harley Davidson Hummer 125. That was a result of the same reparations. The Russians also built a version in the late '40s and early '50s.

Nice neat job. I thought as you were fitting the cdi it would be to large and visible but after the tank was fitted nice and neat.

Nice one Dean. Slightly inclined foot pegs is an excellent modification for that little bit more of an enthusiastic ride! 😁. Looking good. Cheers, Jon

Thanks Jon, I'm not sure that knee sliders will be required on the Bantam!
