Part two of the BSA Bantam top end rebuild. We get the Barrel fitted and have a look at the new CDI ignition system. Also, there are some Channel Stickers and some Viewer Mail to look at.
Thanks for watching!

So you said you had a surprise for me!!! I thought all the units sent there would be on bikes by now.... The 3rd ring will always get you, but great demonstration on how patience and persistence pays off. I've never used a ring compressor and prefer to do it the way you do. I'm sure others will do it other ways, but it's what you feel comfortable and confident with I think.

Thanks Bones, I don't actually have a small enough ring compressor, but I like to be able to see that the rings are clear of the pegs on a two stroke so wouldn't use one either. I'm very happy to have found the CDI, perhaps it is the last unfitted one in the wild! Not for long. Best wishes, Dean.

Absolutely brilliant film. Well done Edward! I am glad you like the mag mount, I use mine all the time now. Also the castors. Just made a simple dolly with a set to move the knee of the mill around. Look forward to your next film! The cdi system looks first rate.

Thank you, I really like the camera mount. It's difficult to film on the lathe without something like that. The compressor has been serviced now and is running very well. The wheels will help me to keep it maintained. Best wishes, Dean.

@@retromechanicalengineer Great stuff. I bought those castors by mistake - they were meant to be for the lifting beams on the Harrison mill - can you imagine! I really like the magnetic swivel camera mount. It has transformed how I do things. Glad you like it.

Compressing the rings I use a piece of thin tin or aluminum wrapped around the piston in a sort of omega shape and hold with a pair of pliers while you put the barrel down.

Great content and update. Wow you have Mr Mills supporting, you are definitely doing something right. And the ignition system is a work of art, did he just do them for Bantams?

Thanks Ade, very much appreciated. I believe that he only ever marketed them for Bantams but he has made them for other bikes. They used Jawas over there as well as Bantams for farm work, he restored one of those and built a system for it. Hope you are all well, best wishes, Dean.

Hi Ade......I love the work you do and watch it a lot............ The commercial variants of the CDI were only made for Bantams, however I've fitted them to Jawa's and older Japanese bikes to replace their points system. These I've just done bespoke as required. The Bantam CDI units have been supplied to 15 different countries over the last 12 years. Export into the UK market simply got too hard and unviable for a number of reasons.
