We visited from Australia in 2011 and were amazed by the banyan tree and the community. I’m so happy to hear it’s coming back.

That’s great to see nature returning, especially to a place is important to the peoples as this definitely breaks my heart to see all the upkeep lost in the area around the tree. I can hardly even recognize the area from visiting four years ago.

I can’t even count how many times I’ve been to Lahaina with my career and so on, walking under and feeling the vibe of that tree and Lahaina. One place where my soul felt truly at home. When I saw this fire happen last year.... ugh. To see the banyan fight back brings a warmth to my soul!

I was there before the fire in 2014 and I can't beleive what I am seeing. I was under that tree, put my hands on the trunks, a shame.

I climbed on that tree 25+ years ago. I was saddened to hear about it in the fire, but am glad it's still alive!

It really doesn't matter. When the wind blows that strong, there is nothing you can do..
