Hi, have you found or any idea if a replacement battery is available for the K5 plus? I have looked on line at AliExpress but they dont seem to have a spare battery for sale?
@bigwill442310 ай бұрын
No, I haven't seen replacement batteries either. I guess it's because it's pretty new onto the market and they will eventually appear. It uses the same battery as the BF-5RH/UV-5RH/UV-5RM series of radios though so if you see one of those for sale you could use that instead.

Can you show how to save the frequencies and put them in channel and scan them and show what button to push to scan the frequencies that you saved?
@bigwill442310 ай бұрын
Best way to do that is using programming software like chirp. Program in the channels you want and they get stored in "channel mode" To scan your stored channels go into channel mode and long press the #z key which will start the radio scanning. Press it again to stop scanning. 👍

Can you or do you know how to change screen display time as I am trying to keep screen on instead of going off after 5 sec
@bigwill442310 ай бұрын
Press menu button and scroll to menu item number 6. (ABR) "auto brightness") Press menu again and scroll to "ON", press menu to select it and your backlight will be on permanently though I don't recommend doing that as it will drain the battery more rapidly. I usually select to stay on for 20 seconds instead as that will be easier on the battery. 👍

No volume display on the screen but there is an rssi meter which shows the signal strength you are receiving. (rssi=received signal strength indicator)

Most all of North, Central, and South Americas use the 1.25 Meter Band. Including Mexico, Brazil, and Canada! Thailand and Bangladesh use the 245 MHz band that is similar to our GMRS/PMR.

Hi, my friend. Can you test PMR power in this radio, please? I'm thinking to buy it, but I'm not shure about the frequency. Thank you very much. Best regards from Portuga.l
@bigwill442310 ай бұрын
Hi my friend. I am not sure what the law is on transmitting on pmr446 in Portugal but in the UK we are not allowed to use a radio that outputs more than half a watt in order to transmit on pmr446. As this radio outputs much more than that even on it's low power setting it would make it unsuitable for transmission on pmr446 I'm afraid but check what the law is in your country as it may be different to the UK which is where I am.

They say you should put it on narrow band for pmr446. 👍😎 Anyone else you are talking to also has to be on narrow band because if they aren't it will cause reception problems linked to poor audio between the two radios.

Thanks for the in depth overview of the Baofeng K5 Plus radio. But according to more in depth tests done by others with this radio, it does not meet spectral purity standards as required by US FCC regulations -and probably regulations in other countries including the UK. The second harmonic is less than 20dB down from the fundamental frequency. While it seems that the features and price of this radio are attractive, it is a dirty radio that should not be used on Amateur Radio spectrum until Baofeng implements sound design to address spectral purity.

Not accurate, you are spreading misinformation. In the US It is certified by the FCC. Lookup ID 2AJGM-5RM.
