The UV-13 Pro is the only low tier, inexpensive Chinese origin HT that I have found that actually meets fcc minimum requirements for transmission "cleanliness" at the top, middle and bottom of their 2M and 70cm ranges. This is after performing spectral analysis on a lot of China made HT's.

The Radioddity GM-30 charger dock works with UV13. In fact it is the same hardware as the gm30 or baofeng gm15pro which has the FCC for gmrs. The only issue is the GMRS version has the channels handicapped and limited. You can actually install the firmware between these. The UV13 you got is probably not the newest which is rated at 8w and puts out a tick over 5w on my SWR.

Got to do a UV5R to UV13 comparison with adjacent channel rejection. An idea would be to have both radios RX'ing on a freq like 146.52. Then key up another radio, say, 1 meter away at 146.53, 146.54 etc. and work your way closer and closer to both radios and see which one starts receiving. You could do this controlled distance test for all radios. Just an idea.

I have the TP-8Plus which is supposed to be the same radio, both models are listed on the cover of the manual. I get over 6 watts on 2m and 70 cm call using a Surecom meter and a 50 watt dummy load. I got this on Amazon thru Abree and I can only assume that Abree has the UV13PRO rebadge as a TP-8Plus. The USB C is great, I have one for each car so we always have a weather radio and I can hit the local repeaters withing 30 miles no problem.

I got 2 of them for $30 to make a lunchbox repeater. 3 issues: It doesn't work with Chirp, good luck finding the proprietary software, and it's the only HAM with GMRS channels locked out. It's probably a great radio once you find the one guy that still has the software in his Google Drive (he's out there, I found him). But it's not ideal for a multi-capable repeater. Also, it's the same case and battery as the GM-15 Pro, but the SoC is different, and cannot use the GM15/GM30 software. For now, they'll stay shelved in my collection, since I can't let others use it. Maybe make a backup HAM only lunchbox out of boredom down the road in case SHTF. On a side tangent, the antenna ground is common to the neutral on the K-1 connector. So don't go mounting both of them in a metal ammo can to make a repeater, because you'll be getting all kinds of weird feedback loops and audio too weak to key up the transmitter.

@nekrorakas
@nekrorakas Жыл бұрын
I think it has the same battery design as a TYT uv 88 /uv 98 (and whatever the same model is from bafung) so it may fit those radios base charger. I assume that it doesn't support any quick charge capability and i would love if the usb was on the radio and not the battery so there was a possibility to use the cable as "battery eleminator". WIth 999 memories you can easily save all simplex and repeater channels with their distinguish ctccs across various areas in counties with relative small usage of ham radio (because of less populace) like where i am from- Greece. Nice and cheap radio to start as a ham and i hope they manage to fix a little the well knowed problems of Bafangs- front end overload/ emmisions etc etc UV9R was banned in Greece for spurious emmisions- i don't not know how 5r get away thought maybe because half of the police/fire deperment have and they are proud of them! PS for CE i paste from wiki

Hi everyone! Hopefully someone can answer my question. I'm planning to buy a Baofeng walkie-talkie. Which one should I choose, the Baofeng UV 9R Pro or the Baofeng UV 13 Pro?
@user-qn6kb7gr1d
@user-qn6kb7gr1d Жыл бұрын
UV-9R Pro offers only 128 programmable channels and it's USB-C port location is weird (or don't exist at all, I'm not sure, check it out yourself). IP68 protection is FAKE, ignore that claim. Only real benefit is that it can work 54 hours or so in 5/5/90 (look it up), probably longer than UV-13 Pro V2 and perhaps even longer than V1. UV-13 Pro V2 can put out ~7W UV-13 Pro V1 can put out ~4W UV-9R Pro can put out ~2W If we're talking 434MHz If it's 145MHz then UV-9R Pro can do 4,3W. And UV-13 Pro V2 can do 7W at this frequency. It's really hard to tell what to recommend, I don't know what you need exactly. If you just want the "better one" I would say it's UV-13 Pro V2. If they cost the same, pick that one.

I just want to share, that that from my experience, the USB charging port on Baofeng battery's are not using the standard USB-C wiring configuration. In that, if you are to say use an off the shelf USB -C to USB-C cable to a standard USB-C type charger, it will not work as a charging setup for the Baofeng battery. The Baofeng battery needs a proprietary and unique USB-A to USB-C type of cable/plug configuration. So... Not as cool as I initially thought. You can't use an off the shelf USB charging setup.
@HamRadio2

The appearance of USB charging in these cheap radios says a lot about the folks that took the time to innovate by adding practicality and convenience to such an attainable product. It also says a lot about the "Big Guys". The potential for taking FULL advantage of USB C allows for MORE features, which I hope they do. I'd would prefer to get a superior product from one of the "big guys", and I'm even willing to spend the money, but they just don't care about us. Get any representative on record to say that they do care, I'll point to Exhibit A, USB C. Yaesu's counter is an "innovative" holster. /rollseyes Full disclosure: I'm a Yaesu fanboy. How does Yaesu show me they care? Accessories, accessories, accessories. They care. About what's in my wallet.

The problem with the big guys is that they are all scared to make a ham radio that will also do GMRS and FRS. Too scared of FCC not liking it.
