AM allows to hear everyone talking at the same time to prevent full jamming, FM blocks everyone except the stronger signal, if I remember correctly.

This is incredibly incorrect. FM/AM are just two separate types of modulation. You're mixing so many wrong things... I _think_ when you're talking about FM blocking stronger signals, you might be thinking about squelch? Oh boy, it's so wrong.

@@zachschmidt7417he's talking about the FM capture effect. The major reason why AM modulation is used on the airband. Capture effect is a phenomenon on FM where weaker signal in the background is completely eliminated and blocked by the strongest signal if more than one users are transmitting at the same frequency. In AM you don't have this and you can hear multiple users transmitting at the same frequency simultaneously.

baofeng is my go to (UV-5RM /RH) but quansheng has slightly better RX

I have and tested the bf k5plus and uv21 pro the 21 receives the airband better

absolutely not! for those frequencies use uvk5 and custom firmware

no chance .... old uv5r can not receive properly airband

K5 has weird controls.. Baofeng is easy

Get Quansheng with community firmware (and "AM fix" enabled). Much better AM reception and many more functions for the same price.

@@takeapart I did send a reply, but it did not get published for some reason: I am personally using the one from Egzumer (just google "Egzumer Quansheng"), it is the most stable and finished one. After the installation, just enable "AM Fix" in the Settings menu.

Honestly, I have a Uniden BC125AT handheld scanner, a Uniden SDS200 desktop scanner and Yaesu VX-6R HAM handheld transceiver that all get Airband. And the Yaesu and SDS200 both gets Military (in USA) Airband as well. The BC125AT only gets civilian Airband. I also have a Malahit DSP2 that can tune both civilian and military Airband. So the last thing I need is yet another radio that can get Airband...yawn!!! Baofeng is late to that party but still nice they are improving their radios, maybe not everybody has other Airband radios like me. So they would like this radio.
