I have been begging for the company to make a real scanner like this handheld or desktop that does DMR I have the uv5r DMR version of the radio so I know they can do DMR It would be incredible to see a digital Boefeng scanner for 100 dollars that does what the 800 dollar Uniden scanner does Stick it to Uniden the way you stuck it to Kenwood and Yaseu and the other ham companies. PLEASE

This is just crazy, when I saw the thumbnail I was thinking that it’s just photoshopped. I can only say that this build/conversion is very impressive. Using a metal case looks really good. And then the inside wiring and soldering you’ve got some very good soldering skills. All in all a very interesting video.

Yes, it is real radio. I just hope that others will inspire and build better quality radio, or if Quansheng start producing such kind radios.

This is an AMAZING Hack 😮👍 Very clever keyboard design and the encoder is fantastic ! The interior layout is mind blowing !! I can't believe how much work you put into this 😮 It reminds me of the time I hacked a 1999 Ericsson GSM phone into an old office phone case. I used gray PC flex cable too, but it's horrible stuff, hardly any wire cores and the plastic melts really easily. A blob of hot glue makes a good LED light guide/diffuser. I absolutely LOVE Hacks like this 👍 BRAVO !

That is some very fine hand work, but instead of drilling, grinding and filing faceplates for my gadgets, I bought a 2-axis milling machine work table for my drill press. I workout all the dimensions and moves on a spreadsheet and convert them into number of turns on the handles, and I use drills for the holes and end mills for the squares and slotted holes. When I account for backlash properly, I get CNC quality results. I use project enclosures that have removable faceplates that I replace with double sided PCBs, which are easy to mount and machine, and I finish them with a chemical tin plating.
