I love the Christmas cactus. I have one that is over 60+ years old. It belonged to my parents neighbor when I was a child. It care was passed onto my parents and then onto me. I have 2 smaller ones that I started from cutting as insurance for it to continue should something happen to the Mother plant. I have no idea how old the plant was when I first saw it, but at 10 years old it was in the biggest low round clay pot I ever saw. Thank you for sharing.

Wow! How big is yours? I planted more as insurance too just in case the main one died. Do you keep yours inside the house?

A lovely bunch of Catts! plus a Bulbo for 'my list'. AND, I must get a Yellow bird, I must get a Yellow Bird (if I say it often enough, maybe one will turn up) - don't see them often this side of the pond.

You must get a yellow bird! You must get a yellow bird! Yes! I like them a lot better when they're a rusty orange, but the yellow is purdy too.

wow your seedlings look great. I killed all of mine. You're amazing ♥♥

I killed a bunch of mine too! The first year I grew seedlings, they all died except one. This is my third year growing them so I have less deaths, but still a lot. The good thing is there are so many and I've learned not to buy certain types as they don't do well for my temps.

Baotran's Botanicals my aerides ordorata finally kicked the bucket. It was the only seedling left hanging around. It just never grew.

Try semi hydro its very convenient, u dont have to water them that often

I love cattleya seedlings too. I have mine in semi hydro and they are doing so well. I'm not going to try vanda seedlings again though! My death rate was high and the alive ones don't really do anything :-/

I love your collection of all the baby orchids, Its hard to find different types in my city here. Do u grow any ghost orchids?
@BaotransBotanicals7 жыл бұрын
I don't have any ghost orchids. They're so hard to find and so expensive. Plus when I read up on them and their growing needs, I was sure I couldn't provide them with the proper environment they needed to survive. Such a shame as they look so cool!

I do keep it in the house sadly. On the first floor near an east window. In the winter is goes down the basement for cooler temperatures since we heat our home with wood. It blooms beautify down there.I use to put it under the pine trees during the summer but some very hungry deer ate some of mine down to stubs, this one they didn't bother so much. I had them out on the deck for a while this year but it is not the same as under the pine trees for the Spring, summer and fall seasons. It is about 2 feet in diameter it is still in a large pot but smaller pot than it use to be. I will repot it this summer, hoping that fresh media and a pot not so deep will help it. I have also switched it to rain water and distilled water instead of our well water. I had no idea that they are no longer being sold....how sad. How do you grow yours?
@BaotransBotanicals7 жыл бұрын
The ones I find in stores that are sold as Christmas cactus are all Thanksgiving cactus. Maybe it's just my region, but such a shame that it's hard to acquire. I'm glad I got one and they're so easy to grow! I grow mine with my orchids so they get the same care, though I hose them off only once a week. I even thought of propagating more but i have no space. Haha.

Are you selling Christmas cactus cuttings? Thanks!

I used to have them on my ebay. They're easiest to root during the spring season when it gets warmer, so I'll post more then. During the winter they root very slowly. My username is whitewaterlilies. :]
