Thank you for this. God must be working in my life because it hit me in a fresh way, the fact that Jesus perfectly obeyed the Law, when I could not and cannot. And that His obedience is credited to me. That's mind boggling!

20:03 "If all Jesus did was die for your sins, that would remove all of your guilt, and that would leave you sinless in the sight of God, but not righteous. You would be innocent but not righteous because you haven’t done anything to obey the law of God, which is what righteousness requires." WOW!

Romans 4:22-25 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. 23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; 24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

I don’t know if many people in this comment section are reformed, but I must say as a reformed Christian, I find it shocking to see how many people have a low view of baptism, this is not what Calvin taught about baptism, and not what the reformed confessions taught. some people even claiming that it is not necessary to get baptized? 🤦‍♂️

Every single truly reborn Christian will desire and find a public display of their adherence to their lifelong walk in Christ via water baptism to be absolutely essential. It’s not about you; it’s about Christ. Infant baptism has just completely destroyed our societies view on baptism. It’s alarming and sad.

Because they were Hebrews/Israelites/Jews. They were too wrapped up in trying to fulfill their religious duty to actually look for God in their midst. It’s easy for us to lose God while we go on with our lives too.

You don't have to. It's legalism. The thief on the cross with Jesus is the first example I can find. The error has brought about the baptism of the dead. Many, most are more concerned about unnecessary baptism rather than the very specific qualifications of church leadership: very, very few actually qualify. Do not mock God. Amen.

Baptism requirement provides church leaders a power amongst congregants and congregants a spiritual benefit but delusional. It is but a "club" mentality -- most churches being nothing but clubs.

Hi David, I think your logic is flawed in a prettt basic way. For example, by your logic, one could argue: - don’t abstain from sexual immorality, it’s legalism. The thief of the cross was forgiven, you will be too. - you can steal things, don’t listen to legalists who tell you otherwise: the thief on the cross stole things. - women can be preachers: the first people who saw the resurrected Christ were women. Don’t listen to the clear teaching of scripture, that’s legalism. Jesus commanded in the Great Commission to preach the gospel, BAPTIZING them…and teaching them to observer ALL I have commanded you…”. To be baptized is commanded by Christ. To choose not to because you want to avoid being a legalist is to blow the door open for sin. Jesus said, “if you love me you will keep my commandments.” A person shows themself to be a Christian by the fruit produced in his/her life. So, a Christian will desire to be baptized not to fulfill some outward ritual, but to obey the voice of their Good Shepherd.

By pointing to the thief on the cross, you fail to account for the extraordinary circumstances he faced - he came to Christ literally in his final moments, lacking any opportunity for baptism. This was an exceptional case, certainly not the norm. Baptism is a sacred duty and means of grace, acts 22:16, Titus 3:5, not optional legalism as you claim. Christ himself commanded baptism in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19). The apostles baptized converts as the Book of Acts plainly records. To dismiss this Holy sacrament ordained by God is a cheap attempt to explain away obedience to Christ and His commands. baptism publicly signifies entrance into the covenant community. It is a blessed sign and sure seal of His covenant, (acts 2:38-39.) Colossians 2:11-12, One Peter 3: 20-21; which he made with us and our children. It is not merely an empty symbol. …

Every truly reborn Christian will desire a public display and adherence to a life in Christ via baptism. This is crucially important and precisely what scripture teaches. Infant baptism has completely destroyed the meaning of baptism. It’s sad.

God can certainly forgive the sin of not following the commandment to be baptized, but that is different than saying it isn't required.
