Jesus told his disciples that he wanted for the Church to stay united, but after the reformation it became deeply splintered. This cannot be what the Lord intended. there are now over 30,000 denominations. Each disagrees in some way with the next. I do not believe that a Church began by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself and left to the Apostles all of the sudden fell into heresy. I have an interesting tale of a Baptist Minister who tried to take people out of the Catholic church and into his. We set him a challenge, I said the first principles of anything must be truth. If the first principle is truthful then it follows that the rest may be. The challenge I set him was this. If 1/ Sola Scriptura (the Bible only), 2/ man is saved by faith alone and 3/ Christ founded a Bible based Church, if these three principles are the basis of the Protestant Rebellion then they must be in the Bible or they are untruths or lies. So I said if you can prove they are in the Bible I will become a protestant immediately. Happy at this he went away to get the proofs. Here is the problem, when he came back he had to admit that nowhere in the Bible could he or his church find any hint of Sola Scripture. I said to him that if sola scriptura states that nothing outside the Bible could be counted as truthful or be trusted then the statement must be a contradiction in terms or an oxymoron as it is outside the bible and is unbiblical. It would also make God the Father a moron because He thought it up. At this point my Baptist friend was getting a little upset. Next he also explained that nowhere in the Bible could he find the statement, man is saved by faith alone. I did show him James 2 verse 24 which explicitly said that man was NOT saved by faith alone. My Baptist friend said he had never seen that line in the Bible before. Next he said that again he could find nothing in scripture about Christ founding a Bible based Church… I said I wasn’t too surprised as the Bible was not put together until around the year 400, by the Catholic Church under the orders of a Pope. In fact Bible is a Latin word for library, as the Bible is not one book but many. I also explained that it is clear the Church existed long before even one word of the New Testament was written and that the Bible comes out of the Church not the other way round. Saint Paul was the first to write scripture and his letters were sent to churches that already existed. So I said, it is clear that the first principles of the Protestant Rebellion are not Biblical and therefore untruthful. I said, unfortunately you have been lied to, not in the fact that Jesus is our Lord and Saviour but in your weak teachings. So my challenge is out there. If any of you can find, Sola Scriptura.. the Bible only, Man is saved by faith alone and that Christ founded a Bible based church, if you can find them in the Bible then I will become a protestant. If not then I won’t…. ps The Catholic Church, by the way, teaches Sola Gratia…… man is saved by The Grace of God alone…..

I’m sorry you feel ridiculed because of your Catholicism. May I invite you to listen to John mcCarthur, Paul Washer and Voddie Baucham. I went through a Catholic stage in my journey but ended up back as a Protestant in the reform theology. I feel that Catholics are fine with someone laying out the scripture however if you are serious in salvation. Then you should pick up your own Bible and see the scripture for yourself. Our salvation is more important than life itself. So why leave it to the interpretations of a priest or a person that sits on the other side of the world. A man no better than us who claims to represent God on earth. I believe there’s lots of well meaning Catholics who hunger for the Word but put their salvation in the hands of fallible men. Catholic here too....some people (nearly always Protestants as it happens) just feel the need to spew venom and anger all over the Internet. It's fine- Catholics and Orthodox know we're the original "real deal" and others will either return to the Church or they won't. The rate of conversion to the Catholic Church in America alone is absolutely gigantic- people from protestant backgrounds are no longer willing to put up with the backward, anti-biblical ranting they grew up with. I see it all as a sort of reflection of personal development- as a person matures they want to have a mature faith...to get it they have to find the Churh which embraces art, intellect, law, theology, and scriptural exegesis: The Roman Catholic Church.

I liked the responses of the Catholic priest. He was solicitous of the hearer's satisfaction with his answers and made every effort to state clearly what the Catholic Church teaches on the matters raised and he also presented Catholic teaching on matters that the Pastor's presentation was not explicit about - for example the three persons of the Trinity being the object of Christian faith. He was also helpful in dealing with the place of holy scripture in the faith of Catholics as the source of all Catholic teaching and yet the holy scriptures are in need of defence and of guarding and preservation both through history and in the present time and how God the Holy Spirit guided and directed the Magisterium in fulfilling that task. All things considered it was a good exchange between an Independent Baptist Pastor and a Catholic Pastor.

No, it doesn't. The additional books which Roman Catholics revere are known as the "Apocrypha" which were never considered canon to begin with. The word "apocrypha" means "dubious" or "false." As a matter of fact, the authors of the 1611 King James Bible separated the Apocrypha from the Old and New Testaments for that very reason.
@caman1717 жыл бұрын
the apocrypha to which u refer, was never in the original scriptures. they were written by jewish sages long before christ. even the jews reject them in their canon of scripture. if u notice, the apocrypha is placed in between the old and new testaments. they were never part of the new testament nor were they part of the old.

Too bad the Catholic church perverts this tradition and makes it into something the Bible does not teach. So no, actually the Eucharist has never saved anyone from Hell and it never will. Receiving Christ as your savior and trusting in the work of the cross is what saves a person. The thief on the cross next to Jesus never partook in the Eucharist and he wasn't baptized either. He never went to Catholic church and he never went to a confession. He never did the sacraments or any of that other nonsense that is non biblical. Yet Jesus said to him, "This day you will be with me in paradise." Needless to say that it was something other than your catholic tradition which saved this man from Hell in his final moments. you might want to find out what that was. Because you're trusting in dead works to save you.
@For3nity6 жыл бұрын
@@BestBibleStoriesThe thief on the cross is a special case. Jesus knew his heart and his sins were forgiven. And since he had no chance to sin, he went to heaven. But for us is different. When we were baptized our sins were forgiven. When we died right away after baptized, same as the thief we go to heaven. If we keep sinning, and still saved, why He says this “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven,* but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?’Then I will declare to them solemnly, ‘I never knew you.* Depart from me, you evildoers.’ -- Mat 7:21-23 The Eucharist will help us grow in holiness because before receiving His holy body and blood we are required to be pure, without sin we have to confess our sins, repent and ask for forgiveness. And most importantly we will be in Him and He in us. John 6:55-56 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.

Catholics contradict the Bible entirely. The first Gentiles to accept Jesus's teachings were called Christians.. not Catholics. After the Roman Empire killed Jesus they then killed almost 300 million Christians. They would also burn Bibles to hide any proof of Jesus. But yet you think the Roman Empire is the center of Christianity?! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_Christians_in_the_Roman_Empire the Roman Empire were more concerned about praying to their false gods. Catholics do not read the Bible. If they did they would know that Roman Empire [vatican] is the Harlot in Revelation. They would also know that Rome continued to kill off Jesus's disciples. So if Jesus left the Catholic Church then why did Rome Kill Christians? Its very clear that the Vatican is very demonic and the root of all evil. The reason why you don't know this is because you don't read the Bible. And Jesus said" my children perish for lack of knowledge". The Bible makes it very clear that Peter was not given the keys for the Catholic Church. Jesus told him to build his Church on the Rock. The Rock was Jesus! The church is inside of us, it is not an actual building. Here are almost 30 ways Catholics contradict the Bible with their man-made traditions... www.bible.ca/cath-overview-false-teaching.htm

Boom! smack down! That old Priest nailed it. A great big "Your Welcome!" to all our protestant friends. The Bible came from the Catholic Church. It was not handed to Martin Luther on a silver platter. And remember this about the Bible. The chapters are not infallible. They were put in by fallible men. Each book of the Bible was to be read with no breaks. So in Rev ch 11 when they see the ark of the covenant, who is it? It's the BVM. She is the new ark of the new covenant. She is Queen of Heaven. She stands at the right side of the throne of God and St Joseph is at the left of his throne. It is the Holy Family over all. St Joseph is above all the priests and Bishops and even above the angels. But even he is not above the Blessed Virgin Mary. She is God's greatest creation. There is nothing in the Universe greater than the BVM and nothing in Heaven greater than the BVM save for God in 3 persons himself. The Blessed Trinity alone is worthy of worship. As great as the BVM is she still points to her son for worship.

Now if Jesus gave us the Bible when and where did he give it to us? As far as we know Jesus never wrote a word that was preserved. He did instruct his disciples to go and teach all he commanded them, not write a book and give it to people and let them figure things out for themselves. So, where did you get your Bible? Did Martin Luther receive it from God on a golden platter? He is the founder of your Church.

You are right. Salvation comes through faith in Christ alone. All the other religious traditions complicate the gospel. All the denominations are because people want to interpret the Bible differently. If you just read the Bible and ask God to help you with understanding, you will be led by the spirit in the ways of truth, rather than being led by a man, or a religion, or a denomination. The Baptist preacher in this video is correct, but not because he is a baptist. He is correct because he follows the word of God, as opposed to a religious system. Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, "Take, eat; this is my body." And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, "Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom." Matthew 26:26-29 ESV I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh." The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate, and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever." Jesus said these things in the synagogue, as he taught at Capernaum. When many of his disciples heard it, they said, "This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?" But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, "Do you take offense at this? Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God." John 6:48-49, 51-62, 66, 68-69 ESV

I'm Catholic and I never gave it a second thought. One day a very good friend of mine, who's Lutheran, was all upset because she had just attended a Catholic Funeral mass and she was denied communion. She was getting to the point of anger, because she felt insulted and because she felt denied. She couldn't understand the sacrament of confession. This really was offensive to her. I felt awful, because she genuinely felt hurt. I tried to explain, in terms of well, different Church and different rules. It didn't seem to satisfy her. She then went on to condemn the Catholic Church for idolatry. To explain, while knowing she was hurt, I knew that she wouldn't be able to hear me. These differences are so misunderstood and I wish they could be openly discussed. As Father Bill stated, most people couldn't read and there was no available written text in the Church for a very long time. These statues and stain glass windows tell the stories of the Bible and have become a part of tradition. Christians around the world should ask themselves why these representations displayed in the Church are targeted by other religions. Why do they matter to them? Every Catholic understands that they are traditional representations and not idols to be worshipped. Something I understood, I had to learn more about to explain. Any prayers directed at Mary, the Angels and Saints are understood to be intercessions, (Luke 9:28-36, Jesus went up onto a mountain to pray...) Jesus talked to Moses and Elijah during his transfiguration. Then again in Revelations 5

But many others who believe the Bible interpreted their own way and in most cases they start their own denomination down the block. The Catholic remains the same from the days of the Apostles who knew Jesus and those who were taught by them. If you read the founding Fathers of the Church you hear what the Catholic Church teaches. I challenge you to read their writings. "To be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant" By the way Catholics believe what the Bible says as well. Bible study is for learning. for Catholics Mass is for worshiping God, and the whole point for Mass is the consuming the Body of Christ as he instructed the Apostles.

@Jay Cee since you blocked me from your thread. Here is the catch with what you said. First off, you called the sacrament satanic. Now you admit that you do it at the bauptist church. You are right, it is the Bread and Wine and if you were Catholic before you should know that some churches wet the bread and some give you the breaqd and the wine like they do in the Bauptist church. I do not know if you watched the whole video but that is the way this priest does it, like the Bauptist church. In addition, the Bauptist Church started by J Smith from England separated from the Anglican Church of England which is pretty much Catholic. Separated because the pope did not allow the funder of the Anglicans to divorce. Now Jesus commanded us to take his body and his blood, and to Marry, and to be bauptized, etc. you called those things satanic. I pray you think about what you said because that is an insult to your Church, our Church, and Christ him self who commanded us todo those things you call satanic. I hope you read this, have a blessed day.

I am so grateful that i am a traditional Catholic. I offer all my thanks and deeds to the most Holy Trinity, God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit... unfortunately this is not a very good example of the TRUE Catholic faith...this is an example of the post-Vatican II church quasi-Protestant replacement and the dear pastor, God Bless him, is blinded by the ruse...traditional Catholics maintain ALL doctrine as established by the Catholic church fathers and by authority passed down from Christ himself to Peter, in faith, morals, liturgy. Our FSSP ordained priests face the altar of the crucified Christ, never face the people. We would NEVER receive a consecrated Host in our filthy hands...but this is what Vatican II did back in the 60's. It unleashed Satan from his chains...for a time. We Catholics are taught to discern right from wrong, good from evil, and true doctrine from the false according to our Catholic Catechism that anyone is welcome to read. We Catholics are all being tested by God for our faithfulness. We pray for all the lost sheep to return home...these converts are the prize of God and they make THE MOST faithful Catholic due to their suffering in darkness all their life...so when they finally "see" what this is all about, fireworks go off in their mind and heart...they "see" the error of their ways...they are truly humbled by this experience. Its good for everyone, no matter who you are, to read Butler's "Lives of the Saints." It is put upon us to question, examine, seek the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help us God...

If you're just ignorant about it, maybe God won't hold it against you. But it sounds like you are fully committed to a religion of Satan. For the record, the preacher on the left is not a protestant, and there was a Christian church before Rome hijacked Christianity under the leadership of Satan.

CONFESSION The sacrament of Reconciliation is one of the most unique and beautiful aspects of Catholicism. Jesus Christ, in His abundant love and mercy established the Sacrament of Confession so that we as sinners can obtain forgiveness for our sins and reconcile with God and the Church. The sacrament “washes us clean,” and renews us in Christ. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9). Forgiveness of one’s sins is imperative for Salvation. Bear and share burdens: - (Repent, confess and forgive - these three are inseparable). As a former Protestant it was always made known to us that confessing your sins to a priest or any minister was completely unbiblical. I recall an instant when I wanted to share a personal concern to a top leader of my former religion; only to be stopped in my tracks with these words: “That is a private matter between you and God.” I was a little disappointed; all I wanted was for him to remember me in prayer. “Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. If anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.” (Galatians 6:1-3). My first confession - on the day of my conversion as a Catholic - to an authorized Priest was and is an unforgettable experience; a feeling one cannot explain in words. Throughout my life as a Protestant I confessed to Christ and I believe without a doubt that He forgave my sins. Confessing to a Priest is so different, so wonderful because if you want true forgiveness you should strip yourself of pride and humble yourself in the presence of the Almighty God invested in earthen vessels. When the Catholic Priest hears your plea for God’s grace and forgiveness and renders your plight up to Him (the Almighty God) you can literally feel a load lifted from your sinful body after the confession. After God’s forgiveness, you are empowered to continue the battle, but strive to sin no more. Remember that Catholic Priests and Bishops are authorised vessels - instruments in Christ’s hand - to forgive sins in His name. The man himself cannot forgive your sins, but when he uses his authority in the name of Jesus; then it is ultimately Jesus who forgives. Don’t look at the mistakes and sins of the chosen Priest; for then you would be implying that Christ faulted, but rather focus on Christ’s investment in them. I thought I knew what true confession was all about - now I’m living it. The cult of 'emotionalism' and the ‘protestantizing’ behaviour of some members of the Church as well as Christian religions popping up around the world have blinded us from the power of God's Grace given through His (Jesus’) Church. How frequently we forget the great power of the sacraments, the visible and outward sign of God's invisible and inward Grace. Penance is one of these sacraments. The fact is that the priestly forgiveness of sins is a far greater miracle than even raising the dead because it restores our sanctifying grace and can restore us into communion with the Church saving us from eternal hellfire! * In Summary it says that we must confess our sins to God (1 John 1:9). We are to confess to 'one another'; (James 5:16). The Old Testament prepares us for the process of confessing to priests (Leviticus 5:5-6). We see that Christ has the authority to forgive sins (Matthew 9:6-8), gives the authority to his disciples (John 17:18, John 20:21-23) who now are ambassadors for this ministry of forgiveness (2 Corinthians 5:18 -21) * Listen - for faith comes by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17) - and do Bible study on the biblical basis for the sacrament of Confession.

The reason most protestant "pastors" aren't interested in Catholic responses is simple: they already know that protestantism is a broken and false system and they don't want to face basic facts. The Catholic and Orthodox Church are all that Christ founded. The bible belongs to us. No one else has any right to interpret the book that WE created. These protestants know this but they don't have an answer as to why they continue to patently just make stuff up.

+TodayFreedom Catholics didn't create the bible, they hijacked it. God wrote on two tablets and gave it to Moses (Ex 31:18). Moses was raised by Pharaohs daughter and he was learned in all things Egyptian, including hieroglyphics (Acts 7:21-22). Moses wrote the first books of the bible. Malachi wrote the last book of the OT in 450BC. Paul wrote the epistles in the latter half of the first century AD. John wrote the Book of Revelation in 95AD. Where do Catholics get off imagining that they created (and own) the bible? Probably from its origin, the Roman Empire and Emperor Constantine. Protestants aren't much better. There are very few Christians that have a deep understanding of the bible and you won't find them in mainstream churches. The bible tells us that the road is narrow - 1.2b Catholics isn't narrow. I just said a prayer that you will find the truth. Start with reading the King James Bible and pray for discernment and ask God to reveal himself to you. Peace and God Bless.

It must have been quite tedious to hear all that baptist preacher's talk, especially in light of the Lord's words "Thou are Peter and on this rock I shall built my church"
@mrtee39888 жыл бұрын
Where in Holy Bible does it say RCC is this Rock?
@HJKelley478 жыл бұрын
It really does not say that. If Christians spent time studying the original language (Koine Greek) used in writing these NT scriptures, they would recognize that there are distinct different meanings between the words petra & petros. This is common knowledge, and anyone can research it for themselves. Petra - meaning large mass of rock. Petros - is used as a male name, or as a "piece of rock; a single stone; movable, insecure, shifting or rolling. The word Petra is not used as a name. So using the appropriate Greek words, let see how that could be read: "Thou are Petros (Peter/small stone), and on this petra (large mass of rock) I shall build my church". If we would just lay aside our hostile prejudices and ask the Holy Spirit, we would come to understand without being so critical of others. Knowledge brings light into a situation. I always recommend that every believer in Christ purchase a Strong's Concordance to keep in their library for study. It is the 'dictionary' for every word in the Bible, and gives the definition for words, be they Hebrew or Greek.
@mrtee39888 жыл бұрын
Kelley Good advice about the concordance it sounds like. I'm asking how we know RCC is this supposed Peter-Church. If it cant be shown from Holy Bible, then it is an unfounded claim. Why is it unfounded? Because a Believer should be able to discern Faith from the Word of God.... and not have to read non-divine historical documents.
@vonMohl8 жыл бұрын
It is crystal clear that Jesus meant to build His Church upon Peter, and it is to him that He gave the keys to Heaven (Mt 16, 13-19). I do not think you need advise from the Holy Ghost to understand that. Even a non-believer would acquiesce to this.

I was once in the Baptist church. I never believed once saved always saved. It is a heresy that was no where to be found until after 1500 years after Jesus. Up until 1054, the church was only one church and the split was caused by minute differences in doctrine compared to the differences between all of the Protestant denominations. Until 1517, no church believed in once saved always saved. Additionally, all of the churches prior to 1500 asked saints to pray for them. Who thinks the congregation of the church ends upon death? Catholics ask saints to pray for them much like you ask the most pius person you know to pray for you when you are in need.

If I weren't Catholic, I'd look for the Church that the world despises, for the world despised Jesus, and he would be there. - Fulton Sheen Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me.". Things seemed to be going pretty well. That is until Jesus said “For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood,dwelleth in me, and I in him.” This was too much for many of his disciples and “From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.” Jesus turns to the 12 and asks, “Will ye also go away? Vs 61, Jesus did not back down, for He said, "Does this offend you?" it offends protestants Jn 20:21, "As the Father has sent Me, I also send you." Jn 17:18, "Even as thou hast sent Me into the world, so I have sent them into the world." Jn 17:22-23, "And the glory that thou hast given Me, I have given to Matt. 28, 18-20: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye, therefore. and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Jesus says to the crowd, "He who believes and is baptized will be saved." But in reference to the same people, Jesus immediately follows with "He who does not believe will be condemned." This demonstrates that one can be baptized and still not be a believer. This disproves the Protestant argument that one must be a believer to be baptized. There is nothing in the Bible about a "believer's baptism." "Accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior," or "Ask Jesus into your heart" isn't the biblical answer. It’s important to be saved from hell, damnation, and the stain of original sin, but what are we saved for? We are saved for union with Christ. Our salvation began when we were born again through baptism and God’s own Divine Life was restored in our souls, making us like Adam and Eve were in the Garden before the Original (first) Sin. As we go through life, we are united with Christ through the Sacraments he left as gifts for us, especially through Penance (forgiveness of our sins committed since Baptism) and the Eucharist (partaking of God’s own Life, His own Divine Nature, 2 Peter 1:4) - until that day when we are truly united with Him in heaven. Scripture teaches that one’s final salvation depends on the state of the soul at death. As Jesus himself tells us, "He who endures to the end will be saved" (Matt. 24:13; cf. 25:31-46). One who dies in the state of friendship with God (the state of grace) will go to heaven. The one who dies in a state of rebellion against God (the state of mortal sin) will go to hell. (For the teaching on venial (non-deadly) and mortal (deadly) sins, see 1 John 5:16-17) What I must do to be saved: *I must be baptized with water and the Spirit. Mark 16:16, John 3:3-5, Titus 3:5, I Peter 3:20-21. (Exceptions: [1] If I desire Baptism but die before I can be baptized with water and the Spirit, God accepts my desire to be baptized, and [2] If I am killed (martyred) because of my faith, but I have not had the opportunity to be baptized, God accepts my death as my baptism, called the Baptism of Blood). * I must do the will of God the Father. Matthew 7:21 * I must keep the Commandments of God. Matthew 5:19-20, Matthew 7:21, Matthew 19:17, 1 Timothy 6:14, and others. * I must accept the Cross (suffering). Matthew 10:38, Matthew 16:24-25, Mark 8:34, Luke 9:23, Luke 14:27. Phil 1:29, and others. * I must be a member of God's true church. Acts 2:46-47. * I must confess my sins. James 5:16, I John 1:9, John 20:19-23 * I must heed the words of St. Peter, the first Pope. Acts 11:13-14, Acts 15:7. * I must eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus Christ. John 6:51-58, I Corinthians 10:16-17, 11:23-30. * I must do unto others as I would have them do unto me and love my neighbor as myself. I must feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, visit the sick and those in prison or give other aid to those in need. Luke 10:33 ff, Mt 25:31-46. "Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are very pleasing to God" Hebrews 13:16. Good works don’t save us, but we will be judged by them. *I must strive to be holy. "Strive for peace with everyone and for that holiness without which no one will see the Lord." Hebrews 12:14 *I must endure (persevere) to the end. Matthew 10:22, Matthew 24:13, Mark 13:13. And ... ? What else must I do? #432 The name "Jesus" signifies that the very name of God is present in the person of his Son, made man for the universal and definitive redemption from sins. It is the divine name that alone brings salvation, and henceforth all can invoke his name, for Jesus united himself to all men through his Incarnation, so that "there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

I'd like to offer another thought: when we pray to the Holy Mother of God, it's not some weird competition, just like God the Father is not jealous of the Holy Spirit and Jesus, the Son of God, doesn't rebel or whatever against the Lord, who is ONE and the HOLY TRINITY at once. My take on why the most blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, receives so many prayers (and those are very often just prayers of intercession for divine Grace) is that, to take myself as an example, I'm often too shamed by my sins and limitations to address the Father or Jesus or the Holy Spirit. But even then, the purest and saintliest Mother of all human history, who is an IDEAL MOTHER to all believers in Jesus, can take up my prayer to the Lord's ear for me. Hey, whatever works, right?
@BestBibleStories7 жыл бұрын
The only problems with praying to Mary are that (1) the Bible doesn't prescribe it ANYWHERE (2) Mary CAN'T answer prayers (3) It's IDOLATRY! So NO! It's not whatever works, because it doesn't work, and it's wicked.
@toninobelimussi2967 жыл бұрын
Where does "the Bible" exactly instruct that we have to PRAY to Jesus? Please provide the exact reference. I know that Jesus taught how to pray to God (PATER NOSTER), but where and who says explicitly Christians must pray to Jesus? Please teach me.
@toninobelimussi2967 жыл бұрын
(2) So you pretend to HEAR THE VOICE OF JESUS when you pray to Him? Please elaborate on it, there are very few examples of this in the Catholic experience if any at all, I myself can't think of any Pope who ever pretended such a thing, by the way, therefore I'd say that WHOEVER HOLDS THAT JESUS HAS SPOKEN DIRECTLY TO HIM/HER refers to a splendid and quite rare miracle and I do believe in miracles, many of which are investigated scientifically by the Vatican for long periods of time before being admitted as such on the basis of the impossibility of explaining confirmed happenings by any known laws of nature. There have been collective visions of the Virgin Mary, though, image and sound (Lourdes, Fatima, etc.), but then I suppose you don't believe they have happened, right? Well, if you can provide three living persons who will attest that Jesus has appeared and spoken to them collectively, I'd also be extremely interested.

So when did the Israelites show up and why was rome forcing Christians to bow to Rome the pope or die. Christians bow to no man no idols. Millions of Christians were slaughtered for not bowing to the east or to a man or to Rome. Christians are not wrong nor are they the gentiles. We beg no Man for forgiveness but pray to God We try not to sin. We honour the ten commandments.

This discussion between two sincere men is as relevant in 2019 as it was in 2013. Rather than a debate over every word spoken, both showed restraint, and made their major beliefs known. As a former Roman Catholic, the decision to leave the church was based upon the question - "Whom do I believe; the Word of God or the word of man?" The Holy Spirit taught me the Word of God is truth. Turning from the modern bible versions to the Holy Bible (KJV) opened my eyes. All of the differences between the Priest and Pastor Price were not addressed, most likely for time limitations of the video, a respectful discourse between an elder and younger man, and to avoid eruption into a debate rather than a discussion over every point that could be contentious. Here are a few biblical quotations which would respond to some of the stated positions by the priest which were not countered in this vid. Mediator: "For there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all to be testified in due time." (1 Tim 2:5-6 KJV) The Holy Spirit is the teacher and interpreter: Jesus said, "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth , is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak; and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me; for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you." (John 16:13-14 KJV) Sin, Confession and eternally born again of the Holy Spirit: Apostle John speaking to born again brothers and sisters in Christ: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9 KJV) also, "Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil; whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither that loveth not his brother." (1 John 3:9-10 KJV) Love: "And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it." (2 John 1:6 KJV) Eat my flesh; drink my blood; "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you they are spirit, and they are life." (John 6:63 KJV, read in context of the whole of verses 48-66) Also, the council of the apostles, elders and brethren of the church wrote to the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia in one accord "That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication, from the which if ye keep yourselves, ye shalt do well. Fare ye well." (Acts 15:29 KJV) Monstrance worship - God cannot be contained: "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands. Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things." (Acts 17:24-25 KJV) Also, Jesus warned, "Then, if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there, believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders insomuch that if it were possible they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before: Wherefore, if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth; behold, he is in the secret chambers, believer it not." (Matt 24:23-26 KJV) One sacrifice. "By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ ONCE for all, and every priest standing daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices which can never take away sins; But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified." (Heb 10:10-14 KJV) Jesus' four brothers and sisters: "Is this not the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James and Joses and of Juda and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended in him." (Mark 6:3 KJV) "While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him." (Matt 12:46 KJV) The apostle Paul said, "But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother." (Galatians 1:19 KJV) and several more references. Literacy of the people to read: Peter, Juda, John, and James were able to speak, read, and write in their language (Greek) as evidenced by their Epistles (Letters). Peter and John, for example, labored in fishing, but were literate. In the Old Testament, the Hebrews spoke, read and wrote as evidenced by Moses' instructions to teach the commandments, statutes, word of God, write them on their doorposts, etc, to their generations. Scripture has always been preserved by God for the generations to know him. The 1611 English translation of the scriptures (KJV) from Hebrew and Greek, was done at a time when English stabilized as a language, and is accurate and inerrant to this day. Those who would prevent others from owning a copy of the true scriptures in their language desired and desire to rule over them with absolute authority. Man's absolute authority of man is called tyranny. But God Almighty, creator of heaven and earth and all that is therein, is the absolute authority. Thank you for the chance to comment.

The Catholic Church is nothing but New Testament literalism. You picked up a bunch of talking points (always the same ones for having read it "yourself") and never once gave Catholicism a fair shot. It is what it is. I am floored with how much dishonesty floats out there, but what can be done but pray?

@repentbelieve1: Catholics are born again believers, We are born again when we are baptized in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Christ speaks of in John 3:5 as being "born of water and the Spirit." In Greek, this phrase is, literally, "born of water and Spirit," indicating one birth of water-and-Spirit, rather than "born of water and of the Spirit," as though it meant two different births-one birth of water and one birth of the Spirit. In the water-and-Spirit rebirth that takes place at baptism, the repentant sinner is transformed from a state of sin to the state of grace. Peter mentioned this transformation from sin to grace when he exhorted people to "be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2:38). The context of Jesus' statements in John 3 makes it clear that he was referring to water baptism. Shortly before Jesus teaches Nicodemus about the necessity and regenerating effect of baptism, he himself was baptized by John the Baptist, and the circumstances are striking: Jesus goes down into the water, and as he is baptized, the heavens open, the Holy Spirit descends upon him in the form of a dove, and the voice of God the Father speaks from heaven, saying, "This is my beloved Son" (cf. Matt. 3:13-17; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:21-22; John 1:30-34). This scene gives us a graphic depiction of what happens at baptism: We are baptized with water, symbolizing our dying with Christ (Rom. 6:3) and our rising with Christ to the newness of life (Rom. 6:4-5); we receive the gift of sanctifying grace and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12:13; Gal. 3:27); and we are adopted as God's sons (Rom. 8:15-17).

@repentbelieve1 Once saved always saved is a lie from Hell Repentance and conversion is a choice that we make daily. Jesus says what he means and means what he says. Matthew 6:-9-15 9) So you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be held holy, 10) your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. 11) Give us today our daily bread. 12) And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven those who are in debt to us. 13) And do not put us to the test, but save us from the Evil One. 14) 'Yes, if you forgive others their failings, your heavenly Father will forgive you yours; 15) but if you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive your failings either. So according to Jesus, a condition for having our sins forgiven is that we forgive others. If the condition was not met, the individual would not be forgiven of their sins, So, if all our future sins were already forgiven initially when we first came into a saving relationship with Christ, then this command of Christ to ask God to forgive us on condition that we forgive others throughout the Christian life, would be unintelligible. It would not make sense. So, that Jesus gives us the command to pray this prayer throughout the Christian life entails that we need to have our sins forgiven throughout the Christian life as we sin. We need to pray this prayer continuously throughout the Christian life, because we continuously are faced with temptation. And in the moment we need the help of God. We also pray deliver us from evil. Once again, an ongoing prayer that we pray throughout the Christian life. It’s within this context that we need to ask for God’s forgiveness of our sins on condition that we forgive others implying that this is something we ask and request throughout the Christian life. Luke 9:23 Then, speaking to all, he said, 'If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him renounce himself and take up his cross every day and follow me. James 2:14 14 How does it help, my brothers, when someone who done a single good act claims to have faith? Will that faith bring salvation? If we accept Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, confess him as Lord, yet commit bad actions, God judges accordingly. Matthew 12:37 37) By your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned. Our acceptance of the sacrifice of Christ on the cross does not abdicate our responsibility live the Gospel. Salvation is not assured. Salvation is not by faith alone for the Bible says that we will be held accountable by our words and that much will be entrusted to us! Nowhere in the Bible does it say salvation is by faith alone. This teaching is un-Scriptural. James 2:26 26 As a body without a spirit is dead, so is faith without deeds. Accepting Jesus is only the first step in a journey of faith. Living that faith is the rest of the journey. Paul understood this when he instructs the Philipians (2:12) to work out their salvation with fear and trembling. If he believed that salvation was a sure thing through faith alone he would not direct them to work out their salvation because he would be able to assure them of their place in heaven. Matthew 25:44-46 44 Then it will be their turn to ask, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or lacking clothes, sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?" 45 Then he will answer, "In truth I tell you, in so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least of these, you neglected to do it to me." 46 And they will go away to eternal punishment, and the upright to eternal life.' Matthew 7:21-23 21 'It is not anyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," who will enter the kingdom of Heaven, but the person who does the will of my Father in heaven. 22 When the day comes many will say to me, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, drive out demons in your name, work many miracles in your name?" 23 Then I shall tell them to their faces: I have never known you; away from me, all evil doers!

@repentbelieve1 Aramaic (the language spoken by Jesus and his apostles,) had no word for “cousin,” so cousins and other close relatives were often referred to as brothers. The brothers and sisters that they said were actually Jesus' cousins by Joseph's brother (Clopas) . you will notice on the cross Jesus gave his mother to John to care for as his own mother. “Don't you think if she had other children they would have taken care of her” He would have had surviving siblings who would have taken care of her. It would be surprising for Jesus to release his brothers from their obligation to their mother, especially because he criticized the Pharisees for neglecting the support of their own parents in Matthew 15:3-6. The New Testament does not say that Elizabeth is Mary’s cousin, the Greek word for which is anepsios. The word used in Luke 1:36 to describe Elizabeth is suggenes (pronounced su-gen-ace), which simply means kinswoman or relative. It tells us nothing about her exact relation within the extended family. All we can tell from the word suggenes is that Elizabeth was some kind of female relative of Mary’s. But whether she was an aunt, a cousin, or a more distant relation cannot be determined from the word. Oh and Mary was a common name, so guess what, her sister in law had the same first name. John 19:25 New International Version (NIV) 25 Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister Mary, the wife of Clopas and Mary Magdalene. Mary was dedicated before her birth to serve the Lord in the temple, as Samuel had been dedicated by his mother (1 Sam. 1:11). This required perpetual virginity of Mary so that she could completely devote herself to the service of the Lord. Joseph was a male protector who would respect her vow of virginity. When Mary conceived, Joseph had to answer to the temple authorities. So Mary’s betrothal to Joseph was not in conflict with her vow of virginity. When the angel Gabriel tells Mary that she will bear a son, Mary asks, “How shall this be, since I have no husband?” (Luke 1:34). At this point, Mary was engaged to Joseph. Why would she then be so surprised at being told she would conceive? If she were planning on having children with Joseph in the usual way, it wouldn’t make sense for her to ask how she would be able to have a child. This question makes sense only if Mary was already planning to remain a virgin. The firstborn was to be consecrated to the Lord (Ex. 13:2); the parents were to redeem every firstborn son (Ex. 34:20). They weren’t supposed to wait until they had a second child to redeem the firstborn, and so the first son born to a woman was called the firstborn regardless of whether or not she had other children later on. Mary’s perpetual virginity demonstrates her purity of heart and total love for God. Mary’s virginity was “so great an example of material virtue” because it demonstrated her total devotion to Jesus. In Mary, we see an example of the purity our own hearts must have in total dedication to God. Her virginity also tells us something about the Church, which, like Mary, is both mother to the faithful and “pure bride to her one husband” (2 Cor. 11:2). Matthew 1:24-25 Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus. That doesn't mean that they consumated the marriage after the birth. This is used to emphasize what is being described before the until is fulfilled. It is not intended to say anything about the future beyond that point. Here are some biblical examples: 2 Samuel 6:23: And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to (until) the day of her death. (Does this mean she had children after she died?) 1 Corinthians 15:25: For he (Christ) must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. (Does this mean Christ’s reign will end? By no means! Luke 1:33 says, “he will reign over the house of Jacob forever and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”) When Paul had appealed to be kept in custody for the decision of the emperor, I commanded him to be held until (Gk. heos hou) I could send him to Caesar.” Does this text mean that Paul would not be held in custody once he was “sent” to Caesar? Not according to the biblical record. He would be held in custody while in transit (see Acts 27:1) and after he arrived in Rome for a time (see Acts 29:16). The action of the main clause did not cease with heos hou.

@repentbelieve1 If your church doesn't celebrate the eucharist you are not following the Bible: John 6:53-56 (the Eucharist) 53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. Matthew 26:26 (the Eucharist) 26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Mark 14:22 (the Eucharist) 22). While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take it; this is my body.” Luke 22:19 (the Eucharist) 19). And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 1 Corinthians 11:23-24 (the Eucharist) 23). For the tradition I received from the Lord and also handed on to you is that on the night he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread, 24). and after he had given thanks, he broke it, and he said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.' 1 Corinthians 10:16 (the Eucharist) 16 The blessing-cup, which we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ; and the loaf of bread which we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ? bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? John 6: 51 (the Eucharist) I am the living bread which has come down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live for ever; and the bread that I shall give is my flesh, for the life of the world.' John 6:53 (the Eucharist) Jesus replied to them: In all truth I tell you, if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

I have a difficult question. So a month or so ago I was in French class, the teacher, lets call her Madame was known to be a bit crazy and even racist. I grew up in a town of mostly Lutherns (Im catholic) and one student asked her "what does Notre dam mean?" Madame responded "it means our lady of something, because its run by a Mary worshiping cult." If you do not know, Notre Dam is run by Catholics and Catholics pray (not worship mary) to Mary. And a lot of people think we worship her. I told my family what happened. Of coarse they were upset and were about to call the principle, but I said I wanted to talk to her to see if it was just a mistake. I did and she said that she was not wrong, then she added that ALL religions are cults. But here's the thing. I would tell the principle, go to court if I have to. But we have family history, and I don't want to ruin that. This is not the first time she has been racist to a student publicly. So if I told the principle he would fire her. But she needs the job, as her daughter and granddaughter rely on her for it. What should I do? Ignore and I will just be a silent person who should've spoken up. If I say something I will ruin 3 generations of her family.

Hi, thanks for sharing this. What your teacher said was inappropriate for the setting and it's good that you talked with your family about something that you found to be offensive or hurtful. At first, my recommendation was going to be to pray for her and even offer up a sacrifice for her, like giving up 30 minutes of tv or video games one day, or going without desserts or music for a week. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can even invite her to come to Mass with you. You could say, "I understand that you consider all religions to be cults, but wanted to know if you would be interested in attending church with my family one Sunday so that you can observe for yourself, especially since Catholicism is such an integral part of French culture." You can emphasis the first syllable in "CULTure" too...just kidding. However, after thinking it over, the thought of her telling future classrooms of students that Catholics worship Mary is troubling. In addition to the above, it may be prudent (which is a Cardinal Virtue!) for your parents to speak with the principal (I can't imagine that she would be fired over this. The principal would probably just have a conversation with her.) In closing, I'll add that it sounds like your teacher has been victim of lies, as seen with her belief about Mary worship. This is a great opportunity to respond in a loving way to someone who has treated you uncharitably. And your parents talking with the principal may be part of the loving response because it may help her in the future, and will most likely protect her future students from incorrect teachings. Okay, sorry for the rambling message! Oh and your desire to defend the faith reminds me of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati: "To live without faith, without a heritage to defend, without battling constantly for truth, is not to live but to 'get along'; we must never just 'get along'." Congrats on living and not just getting along Patrick!!! Your friend in Christ, amy

The Protestant Mary is dead. Jesus' mother is alive in heaven. Take note on how Jesus tells the Sadducees "He is God, not of the dead, but of the living, for to him everyone is alive. You are very much mistaken."Like those Sadducees, Protestants believe that he is the God of the dead, since they deny that Mary and the saints are alive. The resurrection of the dead (Matthew 22:23-33; Mark 12:18-27; Luke 20:27-40) Then that day some Sadducees - who deny that there is a resurrection - approached him and they put this question to him, “Master, Moses said that if a man dies childless, his brother is to marry the widow, his sister-in-law, to raise children for his brother. (Deuteronomy 25:5-6) Now we had a case involving seven brothers; the first married and then died without children, leaving his wife to his brother; the same thing happened with the second and the third and so on to the seventh, and then last of all the woman herself died. Now at the resurrection, when they rise again, whose wife among the seven will she be, since she was married to them all?” Jesus answered them, “Surely the reason why you are wrong is because you understand neither the scriptures nor the power of God. The children of this world take wives and husbands, but those who are judged worthy of a place in the other world and in the resurrection from the dead do not marry because they can no longer die; no, for they are the same as the angels in heaven, and being children of the resurrection they are children of God. In addition, as for the resurrection of the dead, Moses himself implies that the dead rise again. Have you never read in the Book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God spoke to him and said, “I am the God of your ancestors,” he said, “the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” (Exodus 3:6) He is God, not of the dead, but of the living, for to him everyone is alive. You are very much mistaken.” In addition, his teaching made a deep impression on the people who heard it. Some scribes then spoke up. They said, “Well put, Master.” They did not dare to ask him any more questions.

Hard question. Maybe you should do as if you were to sue, just to bluff. I would demand that she clarifies in front of the class that Catholics don't worship Mary (that's a fact). And maybe you'd even get her to soften her ways a little. If she persists, that's on her head, but it wouldn't be good to let her poison any more students. Plus, she probably could het another job if she's expelled, but it's likely that won't be necessary. God Bless and good luck with your problem.

He failed to mention the number of people who were martyred by the RCC for wanting to publish the Bible in the common language. He just spoke past that bit of acknowledged history. In 1215 Pope Innocent 111 issued a law commanding "that they shall be seized for trial and penalties who engage in the translation of the sacred volumes; or who hold secret conventicles, or who assume the office of preaching without the authority of their superiors; against whom process shall be commenced without any permission of appeal" Innocent declared that as by the old law, the beast touching the holy mount was to be stoned to death, so simple and uneducated men were not to touch the Bible or venture to preach its doctrines." The persecution against publishing the Bible in the common language began with Innocent in 1215. The Vatican made laws against Bible translations from 1215 to the 19th century. In 1229 the council of Toulouse forbade the laity to possess or read the vernacular translations of the Bible. All vernacular Bible were ordered to be brought to the Bishop and burned in 1234. For more than three centuries Bibles in the vernacular were forbid, and the consequences for publishing or owning was "severe pain." Pope Clement VIII (1598-1605) forbid licenses to be granted for reading the Bible under any circumstances. Pope Pius VII (1800-1823) considered Bible Societies to be "pestilence". John Wycliff persecuted severley. He died in 1384 and 43 yrs after his death the RCC dug up Wycliff's bones and burned them. The RCC made it illegal to own a copy of the Wycliff Bible. Wm. Tyndale burned at the stake after completing the NT and portion of the OT in English. Johann Mentelin - publishing the Bible in German. In 1484 the RCC archibishop issued an edict prescribing censorship for all translations of the Bible. The edict forbade the Scriptures to be given to simple and unlearned men and women. Could this history be one of the reasons why many Roman Catholics have been biblically illiterate? I recognize that has really begun to change in the past 25-35 yrs, and thank God for it! More RCs are beginning to read their Bibles, and not just the magisterium traditions.

I can understand stopping people from publishing "their versions" of the Bible when I read "The Way" bible, *man*! (That's hippee funny, just saying that that translation was an abomination in how it tried to portray Jesus as, well, I'm not even going to attempt it. It's just an insult to Him to misquote his meaning.) Luther removed the books of the bible that he didn't like, that didn't fit his agenda (Macc for instance) -- man-made religion, tweaking what God gave and the Holy Spirit informed and Jesus spoke. I'm personally relieved that we didn't allow just anyone to translate, anyone to "interpret", because the interpretation, without understanding meaning, is heresy. For instance, the choice of words in the Bible is very, very important, and should not be changed, but understood. Someone quoted Jesus as calling Mary "woman" for instance. That was a direct call to Adam and Eve, (Jesus and Mary) saying "If I do this sign, it will begin the end of this thing. Are you really ready?" Just as sin and death entered the world through a Woman then the Man (Eve to Adam), the Woman calls the Man to fix (Mary to Jesus). The printing press was invented when? (Answer:1440) How many books would really be available? It wasn't about keeping people uninformed, it would be about keeping them well formed. -- To him who is given much, much is expected, but if the people were given only a little, only a little would they be required by God, better that than confusion. Sorry to lay it out so bare, but hopefully it makes it understandable that it wasn't a power kick, but kind of like a mother telling her little boy he can't touch the beautiful fire. She doesn't need to explain the difference between heat and beauty, or all of its chemical or physical makeup to tell him the bare minimum of what he needs to keep safe. She does it because she loves him, and he might not be able to assimilate the rest quite yet.

The history, the beauty, the knowledge and prayer in these forefathers is unfathomable, and true teaching. There is not a reason to focus on the bad. In 1612, Thomas Helwys established a Baptist congregation in London, consisting of congregants from Smyth's church. A number of other Baptist churches sprang up, and they became known as the General Baptists. The Particular Baptists were established when a group of Calvinist Separatists adopted believers' Baptism. The history of the Catholic Church begins with the teachings of Jesus Christ (c. 4 BC - c. AD 30), who lived in the Herodian Tetrarchy (later formed into the Roman province of Judea (Roman province) by the Roman Empire).

What was here the church or the bible 1st? The church of course , so why would one assume everything is in the bible. Tell me where in the bible does it say " only in the bible" ... I highly recommend you read some history on the fathers of the church. Read what typology means. Or something more simple .. Have a simple history lesson on who put the bible together. Read St Augustine and St Aquino . Again , read , pray and allow the Holy Spirit not some spirit speak to you. Read read read. There is much more to the catholic faith than some argument of " where in the bible" ... the bible was put together by the Catholic Church Itself. It didn't just fall from the sky. Jesus Christ is God and the blessed Mother Mary doesn't want any glory taken away from her son. She is venerated and honored. Jesus would never allow someone to disrespect His mother ... So why would anyone who calls themselves CHRISTian disrespect Gods creation His Mother. Ask God for wisdom.
@1madcanuck8 жыл бұрын
the bible existed before the catholic church did, the old testament goes back far beyond the birth of Christ, the "roman catholic" church was a roman twist on Christianity-hence the name...roman catholic.Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ, she is not the mother of God...God has always been.will always be-did not have a mother.
Wow - "Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ, she is not the mother of God..." Assuming you are a Christian and therefore believe Jesus IS God, how did you work this one out? You are correct in that the Old Testament came before the Church but then it also preceded Our Lord's time on earth and it was He who started the Church. In fact, what I believe Lucia was saying is that the New Testament was given to us by the Church and this is accurate. (BTW, in light of the fact that Protestants claim to have such high regard for the Bible, I always wonder why they took selected books OUT of it?) Final comment: If you read the OT you will see that it is the New Testament concealed, just as the NT is the OT revealed.

I have just scrolled through all the posts on this site and am amazed at all the diverse opinions. Insults, derogatory remarks and sanctimonious opinions abound. In my humble opinion, the kingdom of God is within you. As an individual, God allows you to come to him and the Son in your own way...but he will guide you on this journey so you don't fall off the narrow path. That guide is his beloved Son. His words touched my heart as a young boy through reading a freely given Gideons Bible. He said no man comes to the Father except through him. He also said beware false prophets and those, if it were allowed, would deceive the very elect. Beware the Devil because he appears as an angel of light. Beware the scribes and pharisees for they adorn themselves in great apparel and love to be seen in market places praying for effect in front of men. Because they will not enter the Fathers kingdom they set snares to entrap others with them. And call no man upon the earth father, for one is your Father in heaven. Love one another as he loves you. Who the Father has placed in my hand, no man shall pluck them from it. No man made interpretation of the church will sway me from my beliefs. The Son's words are true. Amen.
