I used to love the sound of the BAR on Call of duty world at war. Especially when someone else was shooting it. You could distinctly hear it across the map. THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD!!!

The BAR was my favorite weapon in World at War simply because of how versatile it felt. It had a steady rate of fire so you could 2 or 3 shot people across the map, while still having an automatic gun.

Fired a BAR few weeks ago, had hard time trying to control the recoil despite the gun being very heavy compared to more modern machine guns. I'm 6'3" and 260lb with a lot of trigger time with defferent firearms, can only imagine what it was for some 110lb WW1 soldier who had just a few weeks of bootcamp for training. That gun sure feels like it packs a punch!

I’ve fired the BAR as well (from the bipod and standing) and it’s only hard to control if you’re not prepared for it. If you’re expecting it to shoot like any other modern day belt fed or battle rifle, you’ll be taken back by the recoil. The gun is actually lighter or on par with many modern light machine guns. It’s around the same weight as an M60, but it fires a more powerful cartridge. It’s lighter than the M240 and PKM.

Bray Porter It’s pretty weird though. Other than the obvious bad parts of the game, ww2 has really good animations whether they’re done right or wrong. I mean look at fucken RO2, probably the most immersive ww2 game reloads the gun the same way as ww2 yet no one batted an eye. @@JetstreamSamurai a bar's bolt is supposed to be locked back when you pull it and then locks foward and starts reciprocating until you are empty. In ww2 the bolt moves foward on its own without the player ever pulling the trigger.

I own 2 of these rifle’s in my collection. I have a total of 35 real WW2 rifles and let me tell you, the Browning m1918a2 is no joke. Without the bi-pod it ways about 18 pounds and with the bi-pod it weighs about 22lbs....and this is not including a fully loaded magazine. I also have a matrix airsoft version of it and the airsoft version WITH the bi-pod is still lighter than my real one WITHOUT a bi pod. It’s absolutely insane how heavy the real one is. I feel so bad for whoever had to carry one in WW2. I kid you not when I say this is the only rifle I have that I can’t shoulder for more than 2 seconds. It’s hard to even hold it for more than a couple minutes even without shouldering the rifle. You will never understand unless you have the chance to hold one in the future.

Yeah the Army really messed up the BAR by doing that. Made it heavier without any reason. Most soldiers stripped the BAR but like you said even then it was still heavier than the original.

Call of Duty 2 WINS. It’s the *BEST* animation ever. THATS how you operate a super heavy automatic rifle. That animation just makes you feel that damn WEIGHT and MUSCLE. BF1 SUCKS, that reload is too modern looking and casual. CoD WW2 is even WORSE. It’s basically what the reload would look like if BAR was 10 times lighter.

For people giving Cod WWII crap, behold the idiocy of World at War at 3:08: Apparently, the BAR in World at War fires with a reciprocating bolt -- that is, the charging handle moves back and forth after every shot, like an AK47. Now pause at, say, 3:19 with Battlefield 1942 and take a good look at the position of the charging handle -- specifically the rail -- relative to his firing hand. According to WaW, the rail of the charging handle would literally saw through his thumb every time he fired it. Brilliant, ain't it?

CoD WWII ruined the BAR in every single way. Too overpowered, too fast, too accurate, unrealistic reload, AND it's misclassified as a general "rifle" when it's really a light machine gun. Doesn't matter if it only holds 20 rounds.

Because the BAR fires from an open bolt, so when empty you need to charge the handle before reloading and not after like a close bolt platform, while this isn't a real issue it demonstrates a lack of even 5 mins of research

Vinci it was a version of the bar made by the polish, so it is still a bar just with polish brand slapped on the side, if you knew your history you would know that it was made by Browning as well, it Is a variation of the bar
