Practice behind (downwind) a kite which is on the ground (as long as the kite won't move). Weigh the kite with a board or preferably clip the leading edge centre connector, or bridle, to a fixed object. Practice before trying a small flying kite in light wind.

Really nice, thx for that! Just let me add an advice: depower your kite all the way before starting the process

Bummer man. Hope you pick a better spot next time to practice. Remember to do it in lite winds. Then the kite won’t fly up up and away into some trees. Maybe have a friend hold your kite so it doesn’t happen again. Try putting yourself in better conditions to practice. Sorry about your luck. We are a repair shop too. Good luck.

Can’t really see your lines on the computer screen. I think we’s have to be there.

I did a little bit of bar magic last week, what happened was my wing tip got too close to the water touched the surface and before I could swing it back up, a gust came and suddenly inverted my kite. 🤦♂️ not the first time I inverted my kite and probably not the last either. Being in the waves, it’s not the position you want to be in for long, so I had 2 options: chicken Loop quick release and try to reset rather than self rescue or tug on the center lines and see if I can invert the kite. I went for the second option and after pulling really hard on the center lines, I was able to put the kite into beach pose on the water, I was then able to re-launch my kite only now the lines were crossed, but it still flys ok and I was able to get back to the beach, sure I could’ve tried to play with it some more to fix the lines but when you’re in deep water and waves doing bar juggling is probably not the best idea. Much easier to sail back to the beach, safely land the kite, and then fix the crossed lines. I know it’s frowned upon in the community to drop your kite in the water, but I drop my kite all the time because I’m always trying new stuff. I look at it as an opportunity to learn something new.

Can you show what happens if you let go altogether?
