Back when I was still playing I was often surprised when spectating to see that people don't understand that when you're a heavy or assault alone against a light you should walk backwards to minimise the time the light has to shoot you in the back. At 10:00 you can see Baradul do it and it's very effective.

The Early Adopter (the A model) is quite good, too. Double Gauss for the arms rather than torso, for a bit more durability. Or dual LB20X plus triple srms, for the "Scorch" look. The poor agility does hold the Warhammer IIC's back quite a bit, though.

Thanks for the reply Baradul - that is likely the issue, though I always used to wonder why adding armor in armor skills never really showed up in the mech lab armor distribution... perhaps I just missed that it gets added (without us getting extra points to add in lab) Again, thanks for reply

I got the Bludgeon and though I haven't played a match with it, some testing in the testing grounds had me liking the following build XL380 2 LPL 3 MPL 15 external HDD 1JJ and an Active Probe or remove them and add a Targeting computer LAMS Full cool run, max armour and survivability nodes, 1 consumable slot, 60% radar deprivation and the remainder for 4 laser nodes and as many cooldown and heat gen nodes that you can get. It runs very cold and can spam alpha strikes quite a lot. It feels nice. I might try a ATM12 and 4 HML and see if it's workable.

I actually like the free one, it’s my PPC sniper rn, running x2 PPCs, an ER large, and LRM20. Runs icy cold, and runs at 78 kph with good armour. Not bad.

You will if you are using an Inner Sphere XL. Clan XL can survive losing one side torso, with a massive penalty to heat scale instead of dying. You will die if you lose both ST's,

This's is a great build. A perfect heavy build for you. You basically killed every Mech you faced. You coulda had more kills and damage if your teammates didn't steamroll everyone.

First impressions on this mech for me is a hard pass. I only have the Bludgeon, which admittedly is really weak, but I feel like its CT is just massive and the damage doesn't spread well. I'm usually cored out instantly, whereas an IS Warhammer would have spread the damage around and survived to the end. It's also hard point starved. 5 energy and 1 missile on an assault? what am I supposed to do with that? Boating large lasers doesn't work because of ghost heat. The only thing I can think of is quad ppc, which practically every clan mech over 65 tons can do. The lack of useful quirks doesn't help either. I haven't tried the JJ's, but I feel like a jumping assault is just a gimmick. At best, this is a dedicated second line mech that cannot serve any specialized role well or be a jack-of-all trades. It might as well be a target dummy.

Honestly game provides not that much builds variety :( Had almost the same build on night-gyr, even hardpoint locations and speed are almost the same. They need to add more weapons and other gameplay elements, new mechs rarely add up anything new in the game at this point

Well while the Maul is probably the best of the bunch I can't agree that the Warhammer IIC in general is a good mech. This thing came pre-nerfed from the factor with abysmal mobility and agility. Its torso twist is too slow to shield effectively and the 75 degree range of motion means you can't even twist enough to completely shield the CT and ST. It can't turn worth a damn and its accell and decell are so bad that buy the time you peek, stop and reverse back into cover, your generally cored out. The hardpoints are badly located as well being mostly in the waist unless it is missiles so you have to expose your entire torso to fire. If PGI hadn't pre-nerfed it was such poor agility it could be decent but as it, the Warhammer IIC is meh at best., whatever the variant.

-BL is incredibly hardpoint starved. A single Missile hardpoint? What good is that? You shouldn't put LRMs on an assault, a single SRM6 is a waste. Pretty much only good for a large ATM maybe? But even then a single AMS nearby is going to cripple the damage that hardpoint is doing. If it was quirked for PPC heat gen the quad PPC build might work... but I have not seen a single inspiring build for the -BL. But hey, with all that tonnage you are saving from weapons you can slap a massive engine in it at least... :/

I'll try doing maybe atm12+4hml or 3erml+2lpl+lrm20 or something... really have no clue... Most of WarhammerIIC variants require major quirkage to make their loadouts comparable to other mechs. And the mobility.... WHY!?

I wouldn't say that the Maul isn't a strong hero but the other variants are pretty good, too imho. The Laserboats are pretty viable. I've seen quite a few top damage scores. The A- variant has a very good brawler build (2LB20 3srm6+A), the 4 variant seems to be an excellent lrm/ATM boat. I mean true, the Bludgeon kind of falls behind them. Quad PPC or ATM12 2LPL 3EML are the builds basically. Maybe 4LPL 1EML, but the IIC will do a better job for sure. It is a business after all... Side node: Velocity is possibly the most underrated quirk in the game by the player base. I have seen very good players strapping big TCs on their AC2 builds to get that sort of skill. Especially when your aim gets better, it lets you pick out components much easier. For my part i loved to see that quirk on the Clan Whammies.

Because it's his will which mech variant he'll play? And maybe Baradul wanted to show something for those players that were willing to support PGI and got the other hero variant? Btw, you know you don't have to pay for the mech, just be patient and wait once it goes avaiable for c-bills. You can easily get enough MC's for new mechbays from in-game events in the meantime. Well now, unless you just HAVE to get every new mech as soon as it goes live - then buy it, don't complain about it not being avaiable to everyone immediately.

To start with the roughness, I support PGI sometimes, mostly by buying some MC, but I am from a region where the price of an only for cash new hero mech pack equals roughly 1/20 of the average monthly income of an adult working class person. I bet you don't care, but from my perspective, a 35 bucks pack is a bit disproportional, when I can buy a whole new game on steam for a comparable amount of money. This is the reason behind my question: form this vid I can't learn about the mech I just got, only that the mech I can't afford is soooo good. And please don't say I will be able to get exactly this mech for cbills one day. You know as well as I know that PGI will nerf the mech to the ground - or more precisely below the ground - before the cbill release.

If you dont know how to handle a mech no amount of money you spend on mwo will help you win, if this were pay to win the $500 gold mechs would dominate but they dont and most of the hero mechs are weaker compared to the free variants of the same chassis. Its l2p rather than p2w.
