Barajaguli - Krishnanagar | 4-laning status of NH-12 (old NH-34 ) in 2023

Current status of under-construction Barajaguli - Krishnanagar section of NH-12 (old NH-34) along Kolkata - Siliguri 4-lane highway route. This stretch starts from Rajberia near Jaguli and ends at Bahadurpur near Krishnanagar.
It passes through Kalyani More, Birohi, Shimurali, Chakdaha, Ranaghat, Habibpur, Fulia (Phulia), Shantipur bypass, Gobindapur, Palpara More, Bhatjangla (Mothers Hut), Krishnanagar and Bahadurpur.

@@GolamMHossain thank you Golam Da. My trip towards Kolkata was a smooth experience. But during my return trip I decided to take the good old Barasat-Ranaghat section of NH34 to have a first hand sight of the work in progress. And it was a big mistake. It was 19th March, Sunday. Was raining heavily.. It took 4 .5 hrs to reach ranaghat. After Ranaghat took the Chuadanga road. The multiple bottlenecks wouldn't have created any issue on a dry day. But on that water clogged muddy condition it created a huge traffic jam. The rest of the road was eventless upto Malda.. Thank you again.

As always, appreciate your periodic and meticulous update for the route ! At one point we had almost lost confidence that this route shall ever get expanded end-to-end. Ranaghat and Krishnanagar bottleneck seems to slowly getting worked upon. And am sure , by my lifetime I shall once be able to experience the four lane drive with sub 10hrs reachability to Siliguri. Else a hearse van, may take couple of hours more, but the experience shall not get demeaned 😊

Mr Hossain Once again thanks for one more erudite update. Can you throw some light on why exactly is the progress of the new Farakka bridge so slow? Also awaiting a vlog on the junction of Kalyani expressway and Belghoria expressway

Many thanks. Personally, I see two issues with respect to the progress of new Farakka bridge. Firstly, after the accident on site, the firm has been blacklisted to bid from any NHAI projects for 2 years. So the construction firm is in tight spot as far as liquidity is concerned. They are no longer mobilizing enough resource on the ground. Secondly, it's also Indo-China joint-venture company and you know in last few years the relation with our northern neighbour isn't in a very good shape. Your other request is in my list. @dibyendubose2314 but still 4 laning is very much required. The road length of kolkata has not increased as it should be during all these years. But cars and buses have increased manifold. We need multiple options for the destination.

I've seen your videos. Your all videos are constructive. I want to go Krishnanagar and upto Siliguri from Calcutta sometimes in April'23. I should start in the morning. Please tell me what route should I take? STKK road OR old traditional 12/34 route. Which road will take short time . From Calcutta to Krishnanagar is about 105 kms. What's the road condition upto Krishnanagar from Calcuta via Barasat ? Please suggest me which road would be convenient in terms of road condition. Thank you.

Thanks. If you start early in the morning, with the ongoing work, full NH-12 route (don't take SH-11 at Ranaghat) from Airport to Krishnanagar has now become slighlly faster than STKK road. However, be warned that there are a lots of diversions and a few stretches of non-existing road surface. For a smoother drive, my recommendation for Kolkata to Siliguri route for another couple of months would remain as suggested in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bajFlaOwppV4qs0 Having said that I do take full NH-12 regularly :-) Best wishes,

As per your reply it's presumed that the road condition of NH-12(erstwhile NH-34) which I took to comeback from Krishnanagar to Calcutta in October 2022 during Durga puja is now far better than in October ,2022. If I'm right to understand your reply then I must prefer the traditional route than STKK. You are well aware of the road condition than me. Actually, I do like to travel through the traditional route and traditional route is my first preference. Thank you once again for your right gesture and guidance. With Best wishes.

বড়জাগুলীর পর থেকে আনন্দপুর পর্যন্ত জাতীয় সড়কের দুই ধারের সার্ভিস রোডের উচ্চতা এতোটাই বেশি হ‌ওয়ার কারন কি? এখানে রাস্তার দু'পাশে বাড়ি,স্কুল দোকান রয়েছে রাস্তা লাগোয়া। পাড়ার রাস্তাগুলো থেকে সার্ভিস রোডের উচ্চতা প্রায় ৬-৭ফুট। লক্ষনীয় যে এই স্থানে রাস্তার দু'পাশে প্রায় কোনো কৃষিজমি নেই।

আসলে জাতীয় সড়কের নিয়ম অনুযায়ী অতীতে যদি বন্যা বা বৃষ্টির জল জমার কোনও রেকর্ড থাকে তাহলে নতুন রাস্তার উচ্চতা তার থেকে বেশি করার কথা। যাতে অন্তত দুর্যোগের সময় যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা ঠিক থাকে। ভাল থাকবেন।
