we are going to see how to test distance protection calculation manually
For that i have taken all sample value for calculation
Buy using this we can able to find the
Zone calculation for following characteristic
Quadrilateral characteristic
Impedance characteristic
mho characteristic.
It is very easy method to find the distance calculation for all zone, such as zone 1, zone 2, zone 3 and zone 4.
and also the calculation is done by step by step for easy understanding

Hi Berani Tech, thank you for your contribution. May I highlight that the impedance ratio should be VTratio/CTratio = (220k/110 )/(1000/1)=2 not 0.45 in this case. As for the calculated zone impedance unit, they should be in Ω not Ω/km. Hope this can be helpful.

what you said for ohm is correct. but for impedance ration on this calculation it will CTR/VTR. Thank you for your commands

Hi, thanks for share your knowledge. pd, there's a mistake in the Z2 (Ph-Ph) R1 calculation: It is 3.62 Ohms, not 3.14 Ohms

Hi sir. Have you had any experience in putting wrong impedance value when setting relay protection? In my country don’t have impedance measurement device, so I only get the impedance value from the Digsilent program. Can you explain the best way to me?

what we will do if there is a transformer between the bus.. and busses have different voltage level

From one transformer end to other transformer we will have same voltage so We can have line differential and for distance we can have zone1 and zone2

Thank you so much sir.....for sharing your knowledge it's very helpful for those who are starting there career in protection field like me. Sir, small one doubt, Z=CT/VT *100%. So, 1000/220×100% =4.5/100 =0.045 But in video it's 0.45 you taken. Please explain sir??

Dear it is actually CT ratio/ VT ratio, CT ratio=1000/1 & VT ratio=220k/100, ok

Very good explanation sir... But I can't understand how the ct/vt ratios become.. 0.45... it's 1000/220kv/110... It's 0.5 na.. Why -ve sequence is not considered.. plz sir explain

this impedance is reffering to secondary , that is mean Zsec=Vsec/Isec = (Vpr/Vt)/(Ip/CTR)= Zprimary* (CTR/Vt)

P442 Relay, calculation same for all zone sir, In this relay line impedance given and not mentioned +ve sequence impedance or zero sequence impedance ? Please solve the problem sir.

dist - 80 km..for zone 1 ..why u take 100 km.length

please see fully without skipping- i have calculated for 100 kM it will be useful for zone2, zone3.. if you see after for zone 1 i have convert to 80 km . so please see step by step
