Dr. Smith performed valve replacement surgery on my father. I felt confident my dad was in good hands with Dr. Smith because if a U.S. President picked him, he was clearly the finest heart surgeon around. My dad's surgery was successful and lasted nearly a decade until he got bladder cancer. He died on June 20, 2015, just over a month after being diagnosed. I believe the pills he had to take caused his bladder cancer. He always said how the blood pressure medication made him urinate more frequently than before. And he gets bladder cancer? Coincidence? We'll never know but basically once you're in your 80's you're really on thin ice and vulnerable to everything. Aging is scary and it's not for wimps. My dad died at age 82 (1933-2015). Well, that's my heart surgery story.

I'm so sorry for your loss Mick 💔. Yes I think your dad getting bladder cancer and the pills he had to take after heart surgery are connected. It's not a coincidence. It's a direct connection in my view.

My wife had this same surgery in 😮😮2015. Having gone thru it with her, I declined open heart for my 70-90 % blockages - all three heart arteries. 2nd opinion and investigating totally endoscopic bypass surgery (not eligible). Ended up with stenting with impella assist (catheter with tiny propeller helping heart). Good quality of life a year later. BUT on the way I found out they now can do TAVR (transcatheter aerotic valve replacement) thru the groin like stenting. Minimaly invasive. 80 years old widowerer retired engineer not an Md. But like Dr Sanjay Gupta says "work with your doctors.😊

This is also MY story. It’s almost identical to my personal experience. My outcome is not as great as hers was. I had 2 heart valves replaced, the MAZE procedure, but it didn’t cure my afib. I still have afib and I’m working hard to get rid of it and get back to normal.
@bethelle9099 Жыл бұрын
I had mild AFib symptoms from a teenager. I have a form of epilepsy and just figured that it was a quirky neurological symptom. No doctor ever detected it until I was hospitalized at the age of 55 with severe Lyme disease in which they did tests on my heart. They said my mitral valve was leaking and that at some time it would need replacement. The Lyme had caused my mitral valve to flutter all through the day, every day. It was awful! Until getting that bad case of Lyme, it only fluttered maybe once a months and only skipped a couple of beats. I was a listener of the A Jones show and he had just marketed a deep earth crystal form of iodine called Nascent iodine. I wanted to take it because I was concerned about the radiation coming across the globe from the Nuclear accident in Japan, Fukushima. As soon as I took a first dose, I felt tingling in my thyroid. The next day, I felt it there again. The third day my thyroid felt full. The next day, it was clear, it had a direct effect of my valve. No more fluttering or jumping. As long as I take a dose, at least every other day, there are NO symptoms of AFib. I consider A Jones and his product. LIFE SAVERS!!!!! If I hadn't been concerned for my thyroid AND a listener of his show, I think I would have also had a second heart attack (had one in 2007) and probably wouldn't be among the living to talk about it!!! I absolutely believe that EVERYTHING that our bodies needs, is here on this planet. It is a matter of the right remedy, in the right combination and amount at the right time. I have gotten my 96 yr old dad off of most of his needless meds that the inept docs were pushing on him. Thanks to my research and God's given plants he no longer has any symptoms of heart or kidney disease. PLEASE buy some organic Nascent iodine and try it. I do not think that you will be disappointed. You won't find any doctor that will encourage or direct you to do it natures way!!!!!.

I’m surprised that none of Barbara’s coworkers at “The View” were by her side at the hospital during her open heart surgery. Just her daughter? I guess serious surgery reveals who is truly close to you and who is not. So Miss Walters did not die of heart disease, but she succumbed to the effects of dementia instead. It just goes to show that something is eventually gonna get all of us. May Barbara Walters Rest In Peace for all eternity.
@javiervalverde2374 Жыл бұрын
Frederick, Barbara was not well liked in the industry because she could be abrasive and rude like the interview that she did with Doris Day in 1976 that was plain nasty. However if I had been a colleague of hers on The View, I would've at least shown up to the hospital to show my support even though I might not get along with her at times so you're right to be surprised that her coworkers didn't show up at the hospital.
