This is absolutely mind boggling! The intensity of training and ambition that it took for these two brothers to achieve this and be so beautifully sculpted as well is truly an art form in itself. I knew David very well and cannot speak highly enough about his character his poetic sensibility, who he was as a human being and his brilliance as a multi-disciplinary artist. Everything he did, he did with passion, curiosity and love. His charismatic and magnetic personality grew deeper and richer with time and he was an original and interesting thinker, fantastic conversationalist and caring, generous friend. He also cared about the homeless person on the street, about animals, the environment and the welfare of children. Even though he was so strong and could topple anyone he was a pacifist. His fight was that of the spiritual warrior. Everything for hi was a spiritual exercise and game. His strength was legendary and so too was his non stop creativity, kindness and natural relaxed charm and movie star level charisma. David loved nature above all and celebrated it in almost all of his art. He and his brother were self taught and self created powerhouses. After the Barbarian movies, David went fully into the artistic life....still keeping fit but not pumping it up. He was a total original in every way, in how he expressed himself verbally, how he thought, how he dressed, even making his ow clothes. He was a very gifted, dynamic and prolific multi-disciplinary artist who painted beautifully, wrote amazing poetry and songs and made brilliant recordings of his music and was an incredible photographer...could have been a huge recording artist. He was confident and regal yet at the same time so humble. Amazing and beautiful man. The love between the brothers was indestructible. David left his body for his spiritual one in March of this year and is deeply missed and loved by his many friends and admirers. I am heartbroken...his presence was so vivid, larger than life, an uplifting tonic. He did what he loved and loved passionately. David Paul will be known as much for his incredible legacy of art, his humanity and inspirational mind as much as he is for his weightlifting and movie career. I for one am willing to ensure that this comes to be, for he deserves to be recognised for the truly GREAT artist and man that he was! Keep shining David! I am so grateful for your love and friendship. Forever changed through knowing and loving you.

These were my heroes in the 80s. Ther strength was out of this world. Think they did a 300 lbs neck lift. They also did 60 reps one arm rowing with a 200lb dumbbell. Saw them in Golds in 91 ther proportions were amazing tiny waists and hips with gorilla chests and shoulders. Been waiting 4 this vid since I saw photos of this in 82. They also used to chuck 45lb plates at each other.Thanks 4 upload

The two brothers were always arguing and pushing each other and getting in each others face they were so competitive if one could reverse bench press 500 lb than the other one would try to go and do 400lb press behind his neck they were always pushing each other it was for Goodwill and getting bigger they were so funny to watch great guys

@speedyfinalmile4 жыл бұрын
He got in a bad car accident and they struggled to get him out because of his size. He thought to himself this is stupid. The bad part is the fact if you use steroids your heart and internal organs become enlarged or fail completely. He died in his sleep unconfirmed report.

@speedyfinalmile4 жыл бұрын
He trained his entire body every day. One set 20 to 30 reps. He maintained a six pack and ate no sugar and mainly grains and very little protein. He was all about not being acidic. I was wondering why he was not returning my text. I helped him a few months ago he called me at midnight. His tire went flat on the way to the gym.

Hope Dr. Peter Siegel is still in good health. Barbarian Brothers immortal -- they'll be talking about the Twins and for Centuries to come. (funniest Pound Cake memory of the Twins. Riding in back of their Jeep - Peter pulls into 7-11 - buys (or steals) entire pound cake. Comes right back out, jumps in Jeep, rips open package. Barbarians looked like Goldfish during their own daily feeding. RIPPING into it, stuffing pound cake in their mouth, grunting. Me with a first row seat/bag of popcorn.

I knew David in the late 80s, he told me we went to college on a wrestling scholarship, don't know why he would lie about it. DOnt know a bout pro stuff, i doubt it , I know he was approached though.

A guy I know went to the University of Rhode Island and he said they were both champion level high school wrestlers who were on scholarships there. Nobody seems to know why they didn't go into the WWF.?????... ....does anybody know....???
@kingorbit10 жыл бұрын
***** Well mad dog i asked david about the wrestling thing once. My take on it at the time was that he thought it beneath him. This was the late 80s, their ego was gigantic, plus they always seemed to have something working in the fire. I don't know anything about wrestling so i don't know if i was talking about WWF or whoever, I just mentioned pro wrestling. I know I said his ego was gigantic , i don't mean to say he was a dick, he was a very nice man , i remember he used to carry quotes of Nietzsche in his pocket and he would pull them out and want to talk about them. I remember he honestly did not understand who he called 'mean people'. I discussed that with him numerous times.

Very interesting !......,To me it just seemed like a natural transgression after the very funny scene that Oliver Stone deleted from the movie "Natural Born Killer's" when they were in the wheel chair's with no legs I thought it was great.. And by that time the WWE had changed tremendously from the "Old Style Wrestling'" not to mention the HUGE amount of money to be made !,.... I guess he's a very complex guy.

besides the fact he failed that bench in front of everyone.... why the underhand grip ??
@LovieMcLover10 жыл бұрын
The underhand grip flat bench press is an oldschool exercise to target the upper chest. Sometimes I use this exercise in my chest training and it is great. If you wanna try it, take care with the grip.
@gurnblanston50008 жыл бұрын
Troy Vilhelmsson I have to bench with reverse grip due to my wrists or actually one of the 2 forearm bones is a little longer than the other, causing weakness and/or pain when benching, but not when doing military/shoulder presses. A relative had surgery to shorten the bone because it grinds down the cartiledge to zero. I feel tension more in my chest this way, like dips, than the regular way, which works my shoulders and somewhat my long arms. With reverse grip, I feel chest, back, shoulder, and all arm muscles, so its a matter of a mechanics more than anything else.
@Damnationization7 жыл бұрын
It's also a harder way to bench. I've tried it in my chest routine.
