Thats amazing. I stumbled on this without any thoughts of building a BBQ shack but now I'm inspired. Just spent the night investigating where i can source materials. My only question is, how is the masonry paint on the wood holding up? Has it needed any maintenance or suffered from peeling?

Great shack! We are looking to do something similar at the back of our garage and back wall. It’s A 10 ft x 10ft space with brick walls on three sides. So doing a kind of lean-to type thing. We are starting by not putting a front on the shack. Do you keep all your stuff outside too like pots pans rubs and stuff or just keep them in airtight crates. Just trying to understand how it will work in the UK with rain and bad weather

@Barbechoo
@Barbechoo 6 жыл бұрын
Haha yes the rain noise is a pain... But it's a little reminder that it's not bouncing off your head so I won't moan. Not sure how you'd dampen it without cutting out the light. Pallets were a cheap (although labour intensive) option but they worked well

The back wall of the shack it build straight onto the garden wall then the side wall is fixed to the posts of our garden fence. The front left hand corner has a 4x4 post held into the ground with concrete. It has stood through 3 storms with 70-80mph winds. I was so nervous but it survived lol

Thanks Alex, it's the best thing I've ever done for my outdoor cooking. Congrats on the Yoder... They look incredible 👌 The small bench at the front of the shack takes a beating with the rain, but I expected this. Hi Bud, awesome setup you got there and you did it purely for the same reason I am about to build mine.I have a lot to do as its on a slight slop opposite my garden tavern.Ive looked at inspiration for my tavern for over 7 months and not long had her finished with a complete ammunition reloading setup and all the stuff youd expect in a pub/mountain cabin.With that, most design elements will be applicable to the bbq shack but first I have to do the groundworks and Sleeper surround for the foundation then pave it. Got so many questions for you but my main one would be the scaff boards you sourced. they seem to be thicker than the ones I sourced, any chance you can send me the dimensions or thickness of the board itself?Have you considered doing a bbq cart build also to house your master touch and WSM?Have you also considered treating the external wood for rain protection?Brad.
@Barbechoo
@Barbechoo 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Brad Good luck with the build, your tavern sounds amazing. The scaffolding boards I used are 2 inches thick. You can get deeper ones at 2 1/2 inches but these are more than enough They grey parts of the build are all treated with exterior paint but the rest is left natural. I change my mind quite a lot so my thinking is that a couple of years down the line, I might swap out the pallet boards for something else

Hows your roof dealt with the heat from the Bbq?
@Barbechoo
@Barbechoo 5 жыл бұрын
Haven't had any dramas yet Adam. Chimney starter full of lump sitting in the Weber kettle doesn't heat the roof at all. The Kamado Joe with the kontrol tower flipped open at full temp might be an issue but general use has been fine. The incessant Northern Ireland rain beating off it probably helps keep it cool 😂
