Barbel fishing on the TIDAL TRENT, Collingham AA , Sept 2019

My friend Ryan joined me for an overnight session on the Collingham AA stretch of the Tidal Trent. could we manage to brave the weather & manage a few Barbel out... I apologise for the poor sound in some of the clips as there was a strong breeze. Hope you enjoy guys ;)

Different to your usual intimate river stuff. Nice bag of bream. he barbel look very tidy, I'd have thought they'd look a bit tatty given the pressure they get. Might have to polish up the carp rods and give it a go.

Yeah was so different from my last trip.. love a new challenge tho.. Yeah the fish were In great condition really.. think there is just huge population of Bream n Barbel in the Trent at the moment...all the best in your fishing mate 👍🎣

Yeah the Trent is a monster of a River with a strong flow... Yeah happy with the session was going to stay a 2nd night but we wimped out due to the bad weather forecast lol... Yeah Trent Barbel are special fish. You have to try it mate 😉

Cheers Darren, we fished pegs 96 & 97. Quite good pegs when high water as are out of the main flow.. tight lines for 2020 & thanks for watching 👍🎣

@@darrenhewitt4652good man, usually fishes well at start of the season... sure you will be into the Barbel 😉. Take some heavy feeders as when it's pushing through can need up to 6oz to hold bottom.. 👍

Hi Harry, thanks for watching.. the Trent only rose n fell about 2ft while we were there, think that is because of all the water coming down... Yeah it £10 for 24hours on this stretch.. lots of Pegs to choose from too.. hope you give it a go sometime.. all the best mate 👍🎣

Hi Matt, yeah enjoyed it, nice change to fish a big river... used to fish there loads 10years ago.. can get over crowded close to the weir but the pegs in the 100s- 300s can be great fishing on there day 👍🎣

Yes all the times i have fished there i target barbel but would love to have a go at the carp for a change ad as of yet ive never had a river carp

Great pegs when it’s right up.. in the low summer levels the flow is on the far side.. you can see in the video got some good flat water right in front of you and a Good crease to show a drop off. Why you’re hitting bream. Perfect area for them to hold up. Out the faster flow. Lovely fish!

Why don't you rest the Barbel after the fight? ... bet way to kill a barbel

I usually do rest them straight after netting them as you will see in lots of my other videos... I should of done with these fish too, the River was cool temps n in flood recently on this session so oxygen levels were higher than in summer.... the fish were rested after the video clips I assure you mate & all swam off strongly. You are quite right to mention resting the fish tho . Cheers YRR
