BARBEL STALKING in a Small weedy River - July 2022

Just a quick video of my first Barbel of the new season caught on rolling meat in a very weedy local River.
This is very exciting fishing & after spotting around 6 nice sized Barbel under an overhanging Willow tree I was like a kid in a sweet shop.
Sorry for a lack of filming in this session my friend Andy did manage to film a little bit of the action of his mobile which i was grateful for.
I would of loved to have stayed longer in this spot but time was against us sadly....
The Barbel was a fine fit good conditioned fish & I will be back to get some bigger fish out over the Summer hopefully.

Small or not, it's always good to catch a barbel pal. Especially in a place where you can see em all rooting on the bottom and around your bait. 🐟🎣👌

Good to see a new vid from you mate, and what a great spot to find. I was watching your Wrasse fishing one from Bull Bay Anglessey the other day while on a camping trip to Anglesey, and wondered if you'd done any new ones. sadly no fishing gear with me on that trip but will take it next time! all the best!

That’s a cracking little swim with overhanging trees and weed. I’ve spent a lot of time with polarising glasses on looking for barbel on my local and never see any. They hide well! Well done on the barbel capture, they all count whatever the size.

Cheers pal, yeah it's a great swim... found it last year, it's a long walk from any road which is good... I've seen a few Barbel in our local River early season, went Tuesday n didn't spot any tho, but it full of Chub.. must of seen 30 or so... n a few nice Bream too... you been down much yet mate?

@@yorkshireriverrover7199 not as much as last year but I’ve had a few short sessions with some nice chub. No barbel yet. Spending more time on the Don at the moment, just for the variety.

Lovely fish, pristine river! I just returned to barbel fishing, 2 short sessions so far on the river Ribble, with a break off and a few good chub! Would love to try small rivers like that. Good luck!! 👍

Well done buddy. Looked in immaculate condition as well and the river was so clear and clean looking. Nice to see. Hopefully a little bit of water we’ve had lately has freshen things up a bit. Cracking video and all the best 👍🏽😁🎣

Thanks John pal, yeah a nice fish to get off the mark with, there's a little to much weed at the moment, needs a flush through really... I'll be back for another go soon as there was a few nice sized Barbel there n I ain't had a double from this River yet.... hope your fishing is going well pal? 👍 🎣

@@yorkshireriverrover7199 yeah totally agree. … my old man fishes the Swale on Leeds waters for barbel and I lure fish for chub and perch & as you say that blanket weed is a nightmare at the moment ….. it just clags round anything and everything ……we have some cracking rivers up here don’t we and let’s hope everyone looks after them …. @@yorkshireriverrover7199 managed a double from here and my first double barbel a week or so back after the heat died down. literally just got back today, had 6 in total and one of them caught on the fly by design ;) biggest 8lb.

What a lovely stretch of river. Fantastic to see a few barbel in amongst the weed. A lot of my barbel fishing is on the Wye where the weed has all but disappeared over the last couple of years although I’ve seen recent reports that it’s beginning to come back slowly in places. A lovely barbel you landed there, well done!
