I love this piece of music, but never quite liked other arrangements, such as piano, for example. Felix was able to surprise me and to take me to the very same place Barber is able to take us with the strings. This is an unbelievable piece of work, I’m in complete awe. Thank you so much, Mr Hell, for your fine sensibility, that enabled us to have this song echoing in our souls.

Simply amazing, organs are the only instruments in the world that have such a unique impressive sound. Then to play, this piece on there is just wouw..

There is one section as you raised the notes by 4ths and 5ths your playing took to heaven as if The Lord was carrying me there himself.As you came of that you took me from his presence so gentlely it left me gingerly if you could take. Me back and leave me before his presence and singing with the angel hosts forever!

Best one on organ. Felix knows how to play it right! Not to fast or slow. Just perfect!

This is the most wonderful performance of this work I have ever had the pleasure to experience. Mr. Hell is an organist of the traditional school, and this performance is truly flawless. Thank you so much for uploading this work.

Felix played at the church I work at last year (Memorial Presbyterian Church of St. Augustine, Fl.) and was abslutely phenominal! We have a 5000 plus pipe organ and he made that instrument sing! I talked with him a brief minute and he is a suoer nice young guy. Felix graduated with masters from the Julliard School of Music at age 16 (youngest ever). He is a musical genius in my book.

To be honest, I actually clicked on this video just because this guy's last name was so awesome (lnsert lol here) but praised be God and and the majestic heavens in all their glory what an incredible performance this man was able to give; he was able to preserve the unearthly delicacy and vulnerability of the original piece yet adding such ambient and surreal interpretation by the sound of organ. Beautiful, majestic, poetic, transcendent.

Mr. Hell played a recital at a very small church on James Island, near Charleston SC last year. I missed the recital and regret it greatly. I don't know how he came to play there, it can't have much of an organ. I miss everything!!!

Beautiful. Thankyou so much. You have put your feelings into this beautiful music and it shows. Samuel Barber must have been a wonderful man to write such a piece of music. We should all listen to it often and show kindness to all living creatures and lift our thoughts in peace to all. Thankyou again for your beautiful playing.

Felix is the nearest person we will ever hear to Amadeus Mozart. I heard him live when he was only 16 and her performed Bach's Toccato and Fuge in D major and was utterly fantastic. He made Bach come alive. He is incredible. Definitely a God given natural talent.
@kevinklingner30984 жыл бұрын
The difference is that Mozart was more of a generalist keyboard player. I this guy is more like back on the key board although what the organs today can do and what was available to Back and Mozart are very different . FELIX is a classicist organist. In another of your recordings here l noticed someone was rude in. Critising your comments and qualifications about some criticisms made about Cameron Carpenter. Cameron should tone his style and dress down and his style of playing off the classics do better suited to contemporary music.

This thing is just a proagrammable digital recording of real pipe organs. It is an expensive imitation of the real thing. Too bad you can't hear the difference. Wait until there are no real instruments left.

@MerlynAStern Жыл бұрын
@@felixhell.organist Yes. My family is from Moldova, and we shortened our name many years ago. I assume your name was shortened from Hellsinki or something. What is the origin of it, and when was it shortened? I love your music. I always liked Virgil Fox, but you remind me of Carlo Curly. Keep up the excellent work.

I'm attempting to learn this (albeit slowly). What registration would one suggest for this piece? Anyone else experimenting with it? I'm not finding a combination that I like.
@ssinssg5 жыл бұрын
Really all depends on the specification of the instrument you are playing. String stops if you have them for the first bit of it, drop the celestes as the piece crescendos, and at the loudest part full principals, flutes, and mixtures (no reeds) with the appropriate super and sub couplers. I will be performing this on a 17 rank organ in a few months and this will be my approach. On a larger instrument though, of course you have more options.
