I've had my octanes for 3 or 4 years and I love them. The fact that you can get a second battery and be charging and using the clipper simultaneously is what still sets it apart from any other cordless detachable. I agree the best blades to use with them are andis ceramic, the black blades get crazy hot.

yeah ceramic blades are pretty good pretty much on any clipper the blade last longer and it doesn't get hot

You are absolutely right. I love the sound. It reminds of when I was a kid going to milatary base barber shops. They all use the oster 76 and that sound is very similar

I have been using this clipper for a couple years now. Well balanced comfortable and powerful clipper. Over time the tight sound gives way to a more fluid sound. The blades can be a little clickity - click sounding over time. I use my clippers all day long. Performing the majority of my haircuts using the full array of Oster blades. I will swap the batteries half way through the day. All cordless clippers should have a replaceable battery like the Octane to allow for complete run down of the lithium ion battery to ensure maximum battery use per charging cycle. These are solid clippers.

Man, I came up on a new set of Oster Volts (exactly the same as the Octanes, but marketed as a 'pet clipper') for $60 on eBay! The seller thought they were broken..turns out the cord wasnt plugged into the base!! And yeah, the sound is one of the most attractive features!

I am very happy with the Octane. Very sturdy and well balanced clipper. I like using the charging cradle and a second battery for hot swap battery charging. This reduces battery charge cycles and extends battery life. I usually get one half shift before changing my battery. I prefer the black Oster blades over the silver blades.

Bought mine from Amazon I think it was used but said it was new. Was your battery charged when you took it out the box? Also was the visible grease on the top part ? Also mine are noticeable more quiet than my classic 76

Which ones do you prefer those or the Andis Supra Zr ? Which one has more spm ? I just sold my Supra zr and waiting for my Supra zr 2.

People can like what they like and im not knocking anyone for what they like but i have noticed that if any other clipper they love is as loud as the octane they wouldnt buy it because its loud but because it has the same loud airplane sound as the classic 76 they enjoy it... its very ergonimical to me but the loud sound and the fact that you cant adjust speed its a no for me... supra zr2 has it all in my opinion

this is a detachable blade clipper , not guards , andis magnetic guards are for clippers like andis masters and also fit oster fast feed

Be careful with the charger I had to send mine back to oster like five times. It just wouldn’t charge oster just send me a new clipper w/charger. Enjoy
