I still didn't really get a great idea of which detachable clipper you think does the best job. My BCRG's are going out on me and I need a new pair. I'm sure a lot of people like the levers but I legitimately don't even know how to cut with them I've been using metal blades for 12 years.

For some reason, Barbers want to pretend like detachable blades do not exist. If you learn how to fade with detachable blades. Your haircuts will be much faster. And much more precise. Nothing cuts like a detachable blade.

It's so interesting to hear you say that the metal blades aren't necessarily ideal for fading. Now maybe it's because I use clipper over comb with whatever the lowest guard of the fade happens to be but I don't even own an adjustable set of clippers. And because I take good care of my guards wear and tear have never been an issue. I've had my current set for over four years. Anyway I digress... since you said that I'm hooked. Which annoys me a little because I don't typically subscribe to channelsby hairstylist or barbers but now I have to so I can binge watch all of your stuff. Well done sir

A fade from a 1A to a 3.5 comes out smooth every time. (Sometimes you’ll have to grab your 1 plastic guard half way open to get rid of the line between 1A and 1.5) Debulking tapers with a 1.5 or 2 works great as well.

Excellent video, Eddie! I’ve been saying detachables are the baddest tools for a while now, but I’m an Oster fan. Always have been since I first used a Classic 76 about 15 years ago. I personally put BaByliss, JRL, and Oster at the very top of the industry. Gamma branded products are close. I don’t really understand why anyone would choose anything from Andis in 2023, when there are so many superior manufacturers in the world today. They’re just like Wahl, but slightly less desirable across the board in my eyes. I can’t even name a product from them that I would take for free. Nevertheless, great video and thank you.

Eddie, another great assessment! I have the entire Andis detachable blade lineup and use them in combination with my Rebels or Masters. For fading and detail work I love the adjustables, but for bulk removing, guide lines and smoothing with the grain, the detachables are the winner. Please keep up the great work. On the specialty side, nothing beats the OA FD (filed down) blade for shaping afros and getting stray hairs. Lastly I use the texturizing blade for thin areas.

I was a cosmetologist, but worked at those corporate places and couldn’t take it anymore, let my license go, but always wanted to switch over to barbering because I MISS, M I S S cutting men’s hair. Loved fading. Loved my Oster. However, the Andis trimmer was great… “was”…. Now I have to reinvest all over again. Will be getting octane and 76..

Hello sir, thank you so much for this video. I am 29 year vet in the barber business and I’m very old school. I was very reluctant to move into this new generation of cordless clippers. I do have the Oster Octanes. Coming from the corded 76ers and having all the blades it was a no-brainer. They are still on my station and in use today after a few years of service. Unlike my Babyliss Snap FX system, which was my intro to the new world of cordless clippers. The battery’s suck. I am so disappointed in their batteries. As far as cutting I really liked them, but their battery technology needs a lot of work, even the extended version. I would like to know if I’m the only one feeling this way and if you have heard or experienced this issue? Thanks for all you all do for the business.

Supras have been my favorite detachable clipper!
@mgthebarber
@mgthebarber 10 ай бұрын
I've been barbering for over 20 years with detachables and I've pretty much tried them all. Most of my career has been with a corded Oster 76. I was trained from the beginning to fade down from a 3.5 to a 2 to 1.5 to 1A. Then I switch to Andis Masters the rest of the way down, bald out with a 00000 and then shavers. I also do all my clipper over comb work and flattops with a #1 blade. When the cordless Andis Supra Z2 came out, I got a pair. Within about a year and a half, the switch went bad. So I got an Oster Octane and the switch went bad in it too in about the same amount of time. There's a vulnerability in these cordless detachables and it's the cheap metal pieces that engage the power switch. Those cheap metal tabs also wear out in the charging stands like they do in the switches. After going through two pair of cordless detachables within 3 years from two different companies, I went back to the old faithful corded Oster 76. There is nothing better and it's been around longer than most of us have been alive. Plus, they are easy to work on because they are a MACHINE and not a piece of electronic equipment with circuit boards in them like all these cordless toys that keep coming out every month.

That octane is a heiniger, pretty sure. I just bought a wahl KS, wish that was in this line up. But it doesn't take battery packs. It's cord/cordless only. No swap out. But we'll see how it goes for me. just a little less than that octane. I'm here to learn of what blades and which ones first. Need to do some dogs and my dog head and beard. Multi use. Adjustable clippers didn't work so good on them. Or me. I'm looking forward to better fades on my self. Thanks for these videos. Very detailed and opinion added. We need to hear all of it. Cheers

@@KZbinBarberAcademy it’s so much bullcrap to pay that much for a blade and it not cut…overall it’s probably been 7 blades in the past few years.because a few companies sent me new ones and I would send the new one back,but then soon as I opened that new one it was the same dam thing.i used to love the outliner blade for face shaving but for some reason a few years ago they stop cutting and started pulling everyone’s hair.i even tried it on hair shorter then a 1 blade,just to make sure I wasn’t trying to cut to long of hair,but it still pulled…I’ve been pissed over this for a couple years now.I can’t understand why no one else complains about this…I can’t be the only one besides you.

Hey Eddie, can you recommend a home clipper/trimmer, i am balding and usually go for a buzz cut similar to yours on the head, i have a short beard that i like having trimmed by the ears and under the neck, only for home use i am not a professional barber? T.I.A.

Great video! Does the oster 00000 fit on the andis Supra zr2? I’m asking because the andis 00000 snags a lot. Also if I just get the andis 00000 sharpened will it stop snagging/pulling? Thank you in advance!
