While I agree this quartet sounds great, I'm a bit baffled how a song about encouraging alcohol consumption and child abuse is considered ok for BHS to release while holding back other songs

Thanks for your feedback Laura! Our quartet also had a song held for review, just not this one. We hope that process is concluded soon! We know that contest involves taking some musical risks and we pride ourselves in thorough research of all of our material before we perform it. In the context of this lyric and story (from the perspective of an elderly person) the "tan your hide" lyric is tongue and cheek. As one of the performers (and a father who is staunchly against anything of that nature) Ive never interpreted it as a reference to child abuse. Also, the gin reference is the storyteller asking someone else for alchohol. I think consenting adults are allowed to drink a little of it's something they like! Hope that helps!

@@tylerw8904 I have no qualms with your quartet picking or singing this song. I personally don't find it offensive. My qualm is with BHS having a double standard about what they are willing to post/release videos for and what they need to "review". You guys are awesome!!
