I appreciate your observations so much, especially regarding the Claudia Schiffer doll articulation. Model Muse bodies finally make sense to me since I'm mostly an out of the box collector and couldn't fathom why anyone would want to pay so much money for a statue/zombie bodied doll. When I look at those dolls all I see is a head because I'm going to give them a MTM body. Mattel is just out of touch with the collector base which I suspect only exists because of the product quality of the past. Barbie has become more like a single use fast food product. As I would expect from publicily traded entity. End of the day, parent's just want something cheap and pretty for their children, the children don't know the difference in quality design and pose ability of past dolls and the shareholders want profits.

I agree with your comments about Barbie and fast food. I love Barbie, but the attention to quality has certainly slipped. Back in the day, there was not face paint (eyes) issues and the doll clothes were fashionable. You always got a comb and booklet! It's amazing to me how Steffi Love is generally less expensive without the wonky eye issues. Mattel need to go back to basics and quality control.

I really like the first two pastport dolls, the birthday wishes doll, the Barbie in the striped dress, and the American girl Barbie doll. It really looks like they are putting more effort into Millie's design.

Same here! I love my 2 articulated Steffi Love dolls . I had completely overlooked Steffi Love, then I saw an unboxing by Don'tcallmedoll...now she has a place in my collection.

Sadly none of these items will ever "fly off the shelf" as they used to say. Mattel Barbie has lost their way since the National Organization for Women got involved. Miss the good old Barbie's before 2002.

I found a lot AG collectors actually collect a lot more Rainbow High than Barbie. But yes it's true there's not much intersection between AG and Barbie. It's a very strange collab for me.

The American Girl Barbie doll just looks odd to me. I thought the point of American Girls was that they were wholesome pre-teens dressed as children, but the fact that they have dressed this one up in a swimsuit and given her make up just feels really wrong - like those children beauty pageants where the very young children are dressed as adults and caked in make-up.

I do love the American Girl Doll but not $300 worth of love. Maybe a Hug at $100. But you are right about Mattel brainwashing everyone to accept crap, I wonder if the modern dolls will still be around 60 odd years in the future like vintage dolls or will the turn to trash?

I just got that Fashion pack for free. The black dress with the bow sucks. Those jeans are also cheaply made. The best pieces are that blocked dress with the white straps and the pink dress with the Barbie Logo on it. The pink golf outfit is cute as well.

I got the earring on a trip to Berlin 8 or 9 years ago. It wasn't a particularly special store I got it from though, don't remember it specifically but it could have been from a fast fashion brand like 'Weekday' 😃 it's still sparkly new inspite of it being so old, must have been plated real good in that faux gold color.
