Alright, I was totally not crying until you got to the part about not needing someone to push her. Like you I’m glad she’s so versatile. And thank you for clarifying some aspects of life with a wheelchair. My sister has limited mobility, though she’s not in a wheelchair right now, and people really don’t grasp that you can need one sometimes and not other times.

I have to say that this is my favourite review of this Barbie doll. Anyone either young or old would find it inspiring. I think now that Mattel could come out with more dolls like this one so that all children are represented. Ones with hearing aids, guide dogs and maybe an athlete Barbie with running blades so that nothing is off-limits. Not just your imagination, but your reality too.
@evrcaru5 жыл бұрын
Literally started crying when you reviewed the Barbie. I’m so happy that after all these years they brought out an acceptable disabled doll. I am in a wheelchair and I’m trying to save up for her! I’m so happy she exists right now 😭💛 and she can still move like I can so it really does reflect me. Thanks Mattel. Also I’m gonna say it for the people who don’t know ITS OKAY IF YOU STILL LIKE BARBIE IM 15 AND I STILL LOVE BARBIE!!

I can't tell you how happy you just made me! I still have tears in my eyes. As a woman born with a chronic illness (with a closetful of a wheelchair, walkers, crutches & canes) the AA version feels so representative of me. I've wanted her for a while, but I'm definitely purchasing her now that I know that she's a Made To Move doll as I'm not in a wheelchair fulltime. Thank you so much for sharing this you made my day.

This barbie is very important. My husband is in a wheelchair, he suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and it's been effecting his body since he was 13. He can walk, he is active but he can't walk or stand for long periods of time without causing himself serious damage. So that she's Made to move is such a great thing. And everything you said just hit so close to home and it made me tear up. Even more reason to love you. Thank you for being brave enough to share your story.

I love this so much! My daughter who will be 4 in June REALLY wants made to move barbie dolls and they are not easy to find.... and the fact that this Barbie is in a wheelchair is dear to my heart. I have worked with people with disabilities for 20+ years and its important to me that my daughter grows up knowing that we ALL are unique and we ALL have gifts to give to the world. I ordered this doll today and am so excited to receive it for my daughter.

I didn't think that Mattel would put a MTM Barbie, I thought that she would be a normal fashionistas Barbie with bendable legs, but it make sense, since a person who is in a wheelchair must be able to move it. And the wheelchair is very detailed, I like also that they added the platform. The top is very cute, and also the jeans. I wonder if Mattel would also do some dolls with crutches in the future (I was thinking about my mom). My mom got polio when she was young, and she got a shorter leg compared to the other one (she was very lucky); when she was older she did a surgery to "block" her knee and to lengthen her leg, and from that moment she had to use a crutch (now she uses two crutches because she broke the "sick" leg some time ago), so I was very happy when I saw this new line, meaning that Mattel thought to add disabled people in their toyline (not counting the ones with different hairstyles/skin colors). My mom also walks a lot, despite using the crutches; one time she also went up in a mountain (ok, the road was large and not so steep, but it was a dirty road, and from what she told me it wasn't easy, even with the help of my dad, but she wanted to go in the hut/restaurant up in the mountain, and nothing could stop her). She also told me that, when she was younger, she played a lot with the sledge when it was winter, or before she got the surgery at the knee she also climbed trees with the help of her friends, so yeah, a disabled person can do a lot of things, if they want to. I'm happy to hear that you got to walk again, and I liked your discourse about people with disability ^_^ PS: the unicorn is also cool :D

When you said their was programs for people in wheelchairs to go horseback riding, I know I program were they teach horse back riding lessons for children with autism down in Virginia, my parents took me down their once, I really wanted to ride a horse once I visited them, I think they were going to get me in the program but now I live so far away up in Baltimore MD! I wonder if they'll ever come out with an Autism awareness Barbie!
@PaladinHeart5 жыл бұрын
It might be a little difficult, considering autistic people look just like everyone else. They just seem a bit shy and stand-offish, but very smart. I suppose any barbie doll that's like a scientist, astronaut, etc.. could be considered autistic.
