I was so excited when I 1st learned about this Barbie last year n had been eagarly awaiting for her availability. I bought her as soon as I could n have been in love with her ever since. She is practically the perfect tribute to what Barbie has been, esp in the 80s n 90s, wit all the pink fluff n stuff n Mattel has successfully brought all those ruffles into the 2020's. She's exactly what I was looking for in a modern collector's Barbie doll as she honors her past pink life. I was immediately reminded of the Holiday Barbie and Party Sensation Barbie, both 1990 editions, at 1st glance. I will say, however, that I wasn't a fan of her plastic bow shoes (I have never been into monochromatic outfits n accessories, anyways, as I find them boring n washed out), n I wish she had rooted eyelashes. I dont mind the rubberband in her hair so much as it does give off a modern sensibility of laid back fun. I do feel she needed more accessories but I get a great joy of hunting down the perfect pieces for my dolls. I added a crystal choker necklace, crystal cuff bracelets, a rhinestoned clutch purse, extra pink tutu's to put underneath her skirt along wit pink shiny hot shorts as I felt she seemed a little too flashy down there. I also added lace up sandal pumps wit crystal heels and crystal bows over the toes. My favourite pieces I added above all, though, r the black lace, fingerless gloves I made for her as suggested by Robert Best's sketch n they do give her a sense of completion wit a cool, grounded edge. I do believe that Mattel could've released an African American version of this launch Barbie but I'm sure more variety will be added as we continue to look forward to what else this new Pink Collection Era will bring.
