What a great match. I would have been happy if either had won it. Barb has a great forehand, and can hit the corners with power and depth. Garb has a good all round game, and her serve is better than it was a couple of years ago, but could still do with a bit more power. She is tall enough to have long levers, and big racket head speed.

Muguruza's "momentum" consisting in Kréjcikova being in pain. When you have "momentum" when your rival is not ok physically, and you lose the moment the physios fix her up a bit, maybe it's that you weren't playing so well after all. Muguruza is a two-time Grand Slam champion and former number one, but she's always in a rollercoaster of success and failures basically because when she wins, it's all her merit, but when she loses it's because the other player is a cheater. She doesn't learn anything from defeat, and so never improves.

Barbora didn't play her best - far from it, otherwise she should have easily won. I think she hasn't completely converted into a singles player and it's very tough to play doubles and singles in this event. Garbine is poor in defense even though her movement is pretty good - she is too predictable. I think there will always be at least one better player in every big tournament for her.
