I stayed at the Colonial for my first resort. It was amazing, and nice being in the center of everything. Now I want to treat myself to either Palace or Riviera AO. Both are so different. Is there 1 you prefer over the other ?

I absolutely prefer the riviera for the secluded amenities, but the palace does have so much more!

Thanks for watching! The ocean is fantastic! Know that it is very rocky in shallow waters so I would recommend wearing some sort of shoe while swimming

Great video! Thanks for showing us around. Did you book a normal room or did you get premium level? If you did normal, were the a la carte restaurants menu limited or can you order however much you want? Thanks!

My room was on a normal level (level 2) but relatives of mine were on the premium level and had much larger balconies. For the a la carte menus, you could order as much as you want (but I typically did not).

Unless your into premium liquor and room service the premium option isn't a big deal. The overall quality level for the non premium rooms us quite high and we never felt wanting for anything. Layout of hotel is great ....unlike other properties at Barcelo you are very close to the beach and restaurants no matter where you are as the hotel is laid out parallel to the beach while in the other resorts you are further from the beachfront as they are generally further from the beach.

Do the restaurant at dinner time allow nice shorts and shirts with close toe shoes for men? 2 or 3 resort I have stayed at only allowed long pants.

Different restaurants have different restrictions. I would check with each restaurant before booking.

Stayed at the Caribe last month. Walked over to the adult section. Lovely but a bit sterile. Didn’t feel like Mexico. I still would go back there. We had teens and being at the Caribe was great. They could run off to Strikers and hang out.

Are all accommodations at the Barcelo Riviera Maya "All Inclusive"? I booked a reservation through a third party site, and the brief confirmation I received says "breakfast included" but it doesn't mention the other all inclusive amenities like drinks, dinners, and activities. Thanks if you can help clarify. Nice review.

I have no idea what it is like to book through a third-party site, and I would talk to them because that might be part of your deal. As far as I know, booking direct through the hotel, it is all inclusive

If it says breakfast included, that is absolutely not the same as all inclusive.

Hey, appreciate the video, nice job. Looking to bring a group of friends here, avg age is early 30's. Would you consider this a fun resort or pretty quiet? I saw the music bar with speakers etc does that turn into a party pool or is it fairly boring? thank you!

I do think that there are some fun aspects to this resort, but this hotel in particular is a little bit more quiet because of the price. Luckily, you are able to move around to other areas of the resort.
