This Barcelona team made me dream, they tapped into the everything I loved about football, just like the Milan team they played in the semi final. We don't get teams like that anymore. The whole wanted them to win simply because starting in September of 2003 they made it their ethos to deliver the most brilliant football on the planet week in week out, it was very hard to accept the Cheslea defeat in 2005 and everyone knew if they didn't win it 2006 it would be a tragedy for what was the best Barcelona team since Cruyff's dream team. I remember watching Saviola and an aging Larrson missing and wasting so many chances in those years, Samuel Eto'o was the most important signing for that team, the best striker Barcelona had since Romario (I don't count R9 coz he wasn't in a team competing for the CL).

Barca knew how to handle it's young players. They always got game time. Was it not for the injury Messi would have been a starter ahead of Giuly and Larson but in the worldcup Messi could not start even after he was fully recovered. As for Iniesta with Spain he was on the bench as Fabregas was preferred even after Iniesta won the double with Barca

But if comparing primes, don't forget Messi carried Barça to 3 UCL trophies just like Dinho carried to this 1. In fact, Messi carried Barça in 2019 too. He played like crazy in 1st leg against Liverpool, secured a 3-0 lead and all his teammates had to do is not concede 4 fucking goals in 2nd leg.
