i think the misconception everyone has with barca's finances is that barca doesn't have the money to sign anyone. they do. the biggest problem with barca is la liga's ffp, and barca is not the only club struggling with it, although they are the most extreme case. out of the 20 la liga teams, 19 teams are forced to sell or limit their squad with real Madrid being the only club allowed to essentially freely sign and register their players. of course there is no direct favoritism towards real Madrid from la liga but the truth of the matter is that the new regulated imposed on la liga clubs heavily restricted every club that wasn't real madrid. regarding barca though, barca's income drastically declined during covid and they had it the worst compared to any other club in la liga. as a result of covid and barca's sudden drop in revenue, la liga decided to impose sanctions and limitations towards their clubs to prevent a meltdown like barca from happening again, while every other league in Europe actually loosened ffp as a way of understanding the heavy impact covid had on every club. so not only was barca now in turmoil due to covid, they also had the league multiplying that effect even further. everyone knows about the levers barca pulled to sign players a few years ago. those levers weren't actually mainly used to sign players. they were used to register players for la liga. the main impact those levers had was to artificially increase barca's income for ffp (think city, Chelsea, newcastle, etc but nowhere near as bad because they're using their own assets) so that barca's wage cap can return to a more normal figure.

finally a none brain dead person. barca had highest profit of any club in the world last year. by a lot. 10x more than the second team. 190m profit. barca has no issues with money. we have issues with ffp due to over spending on salaries breaking the rules to many times and now to get back to the right place needed to lower our wages significantly and bring in money at same time. we are so close to 1:1 and then we can sign and pay for who ever we want.

Olmo has been so injury prone throughout his career, last season he missed 29 games. We don’t need more players who will constantly be injured. On top of that, he’s not a starter here at Barca. Fermin could score just as good as Olmo. And Gundo was our most creative midfielder having 9 assists in the league last season. That’s the most he’s had in a season throughout his whole career btw. Meanwhile Dani Olmo only had 4 goals and 5 assists in the BUNDESLIGA 😭. If you had watched Olmo before the Euros, which clearly you haven’t, you’d know he would be a waste of money and wouldn’t start over any of the midfielders I mentioned. He had a good run in the Euros, but we’d instantly look to offload him in a couple of years just how we are looking to do so with Raphinha and Ferran.

Additionally, Kounde is weak at CB and there's currently no backup RB in Barcelona, Faye has no la liga experience, Martinez I hear is on the way out, De Jong is now injury prone although id like to see him turn things around. Im not saying laporte is necessarily a bad signing im just disagreeing that Barca have this incredible depth of CBs like you mention. Realistically it's Araujo (injury prone), Cubarsi, and Christensen. Everyone talking about signing Olmo when in reality Barca still need to bolster the defense in a few areas.

Kounde has had good games and poor games at barca in that role but there are many times in the 2022-2023, 2023-2024 where Kounde has been a great filler foreither Christensen or Araujo when out. Whether or not Iniago is up for sale it does not really matter considering that there is not much interest and Araujo is injured so it is getting likely that he will stay at barca.
