Proof, once again, that Bach sounds superb, no matter the medium.

I once orchestrated this piece for fun. This is brilliant. To play Bach, to read Bach, to experience even a small part of Bach is to glimpse into the mind of God. How lucky we are.
@andywaynick52012 ай бұрын
J. S. Bach’s music transcends the type of instruments that play it. A choir of kazoos playing a Bach composition would still sound unmistakably Bach. But since this piece and many others were composed for pipe organ, they are perfect for a brass choir. And this wonderful performance proves that. Majestic and glorious from the first bar. And the ending gave me chills.

The fact that it takes around 12 people just to play this piece, shows how complex and insane bach's pieces really are, and it's truly beautiful!
@bcstechnologylimited8964 жыл бұрын
Complex? Yes, his work can be, although the Two Part Inventions are (apparently) simple. ☻ Insane? Not at all. There is an overarching logic to all of Bach's work. If he lived today and were a computer programmer he would be writing the most efficient and bulletproof code ever seen.

This is absolutely stunning and what is more they are working as a true team, there is no conductor and that is incredible cohesion in an orchestra . As someone else stated Bach's music sound superb in any medium. This is by far one of my favourite Bach compositions and I think I have watched every version on KZbin and this is by far one of the best. I used to play cornet in brass bands and trumpet in big bands in my youth and organ later in life so I do appreciate true mastery.

I heard this in the car today on the Classical channel. It gave me goosebumps! I played trumpet back my early years/Highschool, but this made me want to play the Baritone or a Tuba. The lows are hauntingly powerful.

There are 15 thumbs down. This is why I frequently despair for our society. I would have killed for access to performances like this 50+ years ago (when I was a teen). Now people have all these great performances and "meh... don't like it". Just screams out "notice me"!!!

Very good transcription and execution, the passacaglia works very well for Brass. I especially respond to the sensitivity of attack, sustain, modulation and decay - not just playing notes, but experiencing them, each one of them. The respect for phrasing is also apparent. It's not easy...

I never believe God. But I felt the sensation as if something close to that descended to the hall through the sound at the climax of Fugue. I never felt the same way before although I am very familiar with this particular piece. I think Bach found the existence of something greater than the world we could usually sense, something beyond our comprehension, like Plato described once as Idea(some might call it God), the higher order of the universe if I name it, and tried to reach it through his composition. I don't know if it was an illusion or not, but my soul crying out it's real. It was so much fortunate for us that his language was music. ──Now this version is my very favorite besides Helmut Walcha's. It helps me to see the piece in a different perspective. Thank you so much. (edited August 16, 2020)

Thank you for the link. In my opinion, CSO version is like rebuilding the organ with brass, which is very well controlled and quite faithful to the original compared to this, far more brass like arrangement and performance. Athough I like the sound quality of CSO, this version is more touchy to me.

Yes but that’s only 0.08%. It’s less than a tenth of a percent. You can probably account for the majority of those being people clicking the button by mistake. Why not rejoice that 18000 people have seen this, and over 1300 have given it a thumbs up? Seems like despair is a bit unnecessary😂

How refreshing not to see classical musicians hamming it up while they play their instruments: gyrating back-and-forth, swaying to and fro, and making general spectacles of themselves. Just sober professionals doing their job and refusing to stand out as the center of attention.

That's great, but actually i don't see any sense in playing first basso exposition with such a power, and than following much softer. All charm of Passakaglia is to save basso continuo, in constant way.

This arrangement was created using Respighi's orchestration as a guide, and he chose to start his version with a stronger dynamic than is usually performed on the organ. You can hear his version here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHbXfaFsYpuBj8U
