Speculation and ideas: Jergal is the third aspect of Lathander and Amaunator. Each getting its time in the spotlight while the others are shadows. Jergal was about to dip into obscurity as Lathanders time was coming to pass, so he gave up his portfolio and took up one that did not put him into the shadows. - A tactical move one might say.

Bane, Bhaal & Myrkul - Bane got Tyranny and Strife - The thing that rules all men. Myrkul then choose The Dead, so that all of Banes followers must one day be his. Then Bhaal got Death, so that all of Bane followers must pass through him, before going to Myrkul. As such, he could starve Myrkul by restricting his hand, or kill Bane by releasing it.

@@edenbit7185 well both Bane and Myrkul were greater deities before the time of troubles while Bhaal was an intermediate deity A.K.A a Deity more powerful then a lesser deity but weaker then a greater deity but now after the time of troubles Bane Myrkul and Bhaal are now all Quasi deities basically the weakest type of lesser deity

@@Marshal_Rock I think all 3 were killed by Cyric with Godsbane. Leira was killed too. Then he lost the portfolio of the dead to Kelemvor during the Cyrinishad Debacle, right when he realized who Godsbane really was.
