My favourite? EVERYONE except the minus / dbs Broly one, which is a lame Jor El knock off... And the videogames prove me right on this version being lame, because despite the minus overwriting the special back in the 2014, this version needed a freaking movie to get some real spotlight, and even after, the incarnation most used in videogames is the original one, and the heroes one is based off on that.

I mean, the old version literally has more source material to pick from, so your argument doesn't really hold a solid ground. Let's not forget that in the actual Dragonball manga, Bardock was just reduced to a single panel cameo.

@@WTFHAX93 That doesn't mean much... because: 1) The old incarnation too doesn't have much to draw from, the special was around an hour long, and not too many things happened in it... if anything, Toriyama should have tried much more to give substance to Bardock in the minus (and just to be clear, this is the real reason why I despise that work, it isn't an actual story, and its elements lack substance) like referencing some of his earlier massacres, throwing in Kanassa for the heck of it, or giving a flashback on how his relationship with Gine evolved, instead of just saying "Oh yeah, Gine was just that special!" and in the mix, he could have thrown some visual reference to his older incarnation... but he didn't... because he made a list of events, not a story with characters. And 2) The videogames themselves could have based Bardock off of the Minus incarnation... starting from Xenoverse 1 circa, they could have had his design be based on the armor from that thing, they could have included Gine as a playable character, even put in the story of the Minus, instead of not doing so, and including just his attempted rebellion against Frieza, all visually based on on a story people actually know and appreciate. It is because of these 2 factors, that the Minus incarnation of Bardock has been pretty much in the shadows of his original incarnation and ones more similiar to it... basically no official product bothered to advertise the fact that the Bardock special has been retconned off, up until the 2018 movie... and even then, it didn't got anything after bar appearing in a mobile game, and db heroes, which doesn't mean much...

Most of Bardock's appearances in games are based on that special, then after Episode of Bardock they started adding SSJ to him. DB Online, made a completely new storyline for Bardock, where he was barely saved from death and then brainwashed by Towa and Mira. DB Heroes and Xenoverse built up from that. DB Minus was a retcon to introduce Gine to the lore (and I will agree that it's not the best retcon, that's why DBS: Broly kinda tried to fix by integrating that and expand it ever so slightly). It's basically the hype for the OG Bardock that was ultimately the downfall for his character. An afterthought character that was too cool for his own good.

@@WTFHAX93 The fact that one of the best remembered stories from old db doesn't even come from Toriyama is very indicative of his lack of care as a storywriter... you know, the Trunks special too was born as a list of events from the man himself, and guess what? His version, sucks! Because is not a backstory. -All of those things are nothing when compared to the Minus, because at least they respected the bigger story and lore, they do not retcon sheet, nor open even more questions than needed... In hindsight, if the hype for Bardock caused his downfall, despite the fact that he never had a story to tell beyond the one of his dead, the minus is what happened when you try to resume the corpse of a glory of olds, and reboot it... a.k.a. an insult to the fans, the characters, and the franchise, but since this is db and Toriyama is a god in the fandom, everything he touches is supposely gold... and the Broly movie tried to incorporate it in a bigger story true, and it arguably can work in a bigger context, but that's it, they haven't truly expanded the thing itself, they only tried to make a thing have more sense, and added a reference to the special, with Bardock dying in the same way as in the special and manga, shame that that too, had no build up whatsovever! It just happened...

@@a.liguria2698 Toriyama apparently liked to work on DB "go-with-the-flow" style, hence the frequent retcons. On top of that he is very forgetful, which might tie in to that. I remember there was an interview where he thought SSJ3 was actually SSJ2, and forgot about the true SSJ2. The transformation that was the culmination of Gohan's character. To be fair tho, after Cell was defeated, SSJ2 really lost its importance - Vegeta and Goku reached the level too (Goku even surpassed it), and the difference in appearance was so minimized to the point that most of the casual fans wouldn't even notice the differences between SSJ and SSJ2. Which is sad, because SSJ2 is actually my favorite transformation.
