100% agree with this, even though they made "muscle memory" a meme in the aim training community, it still didn't change my stance on it.

completely unrelated, but you were my first introduction to sardinia, i had never heard of the island prior to finding your videos and stream so many years ago, and that planted the seed of interest for me. I took a trip to italy with my family recently and made it a point to spend a few days in sardinia and that was our favourite part of the trip! thanks for that haha

In my opinion, the key is to stick with something for periods while testing new settings, because you can master pretty much any setting once you understand the downsides of it. For example, I found my favorite sens by slightly raising (and lowering) the one I used the longest, finding my comfort zone. In any case, sticking is always the best choice because at a certain point you will feel comfortable with what you are using just because you get used to it, which is why many people recommend not changing the settings anymore, skipping the testing phase which involuntarily we do, when we tilt or whatever. One thing I discovered that goes along with this is that if you go to the PC and change the settings without having played it is VERY different from when you change them while you are playing or have already played during the day. With this therefore, it is up to the player whether to test their limits until the end or just stick with one that seems comfortable at first glance, there is nothing wrong in both cases, the important thing at a certain point is to stop. Btw, this video format is really good, hope to see more of it in the future 🔥

A bit of an extra take here: games do count HS percentage differently. What you've mentioned in 11:30 is how CS counts it -- which means it's a Headshot Frag, not necessarily Head Shots. Val does this differently by calculating the total amount of shots to the head divided by the total amount of shots. Hence, the term "Head Shot". That's why if you notice the distribution of HS percentage in Val compared to CS you will see that the average number would obviously be lower, because of this difference of calculation. Btw, damn nice take! Really hope aim trainers or even aiming in general would get studied in multi-discipline academic releases so we could reduce this 'status quo' issue as much as possible. Aimlabs maybe? Open-sourced papers when?

Would be interesting to see a chart of popular games and their 35th percentile sensitivities. Maybe a cool video idea to discuss that topic deeper. Nice vid!

For games i found changing sens before you start playing makes it easier to get comfortable with it instead of changing it mid game. But i would stick to it for that day or a few days/weeks to find out if you perform better with it.

dang, wasn't expecting a philosophy of science and epistemology lecture, but it was welcome, especially w/ the concrete advice.

I agree, in aim tainers I can change sens every minute and be fine but there's so much more than just clicking dots in actual games. And imo it's not just being able to aim without thinking about it. If you stick to one sens for a while you'll also learn the advantages and disadvantages of your sens and you'll be able to play around them.

Ive realized with flicking, there is a flicking speed i can go where i lose smoothness or the visibility of most things till the end of the flick. I presume this is when muscle memory helps. Jus means i gotta get my eyes adjusted to that speed tho. My flicking's probs my worst skill

I mean Tenz is the best example of changing sensivity often and not being consistent. At least in pro play

as a person who kept on changing settings all the time playing CS i can say for a fact it makes u a worse player changing sens on kovaaks for different scenarios vs changing sens on one singular game where the gameplay doesnt change // those things are not equal in my opinion i can change sens and be just fine on aim trainers but in a real game where you are so used to hold certan angles ect it feels off especially if you do it between rounds and if you add FOV res mousepad mouse into the mix and you just change everything all the time its basically impossible to do your best since you have so many other factors to deal with. A lot of pro players have outdated gear and they are still extremely good because they dont have to worry about other factors like a new shape a new res a new keyboard ect thats why u also dont see most of the cs pros on wooting because when u're THAT GOOD changing something can make you much worse for a few weeks so its not really worth for most of them to update the gear. Would probably be good in the off season maybe tho ?

Maybe a good rule is for consostency one sens is best, but for practice/improving the motor skill itself, changing sens is good. Consistency just makes someone's best runs and makes all the runs closer to that, not really improve raw speed or accuracy capabilities.

So after a month of finally deciding to stop changing my sens frequently and follow your advice, I’ve noticed a few things. I’ve found my aim labs scores kind of plateaued although being more consistent scores. As for my performance in game (Valorant) overall I would say it is way more consistent and steady. I think you are correct in saying IN GAME changing your sense is inherently bad for consistency. As for training, I’d say experimenting is the way to go and see what works for you. Well put together video bard👍🏼

if you go through it, feel free to DM me in Discord at @bardoz and I'll then compile them in a new video! 30 days IMO is the right amount to suppress the noise from normal day-to-day variability.

i dont think you need to change sensitivity in aim trainers, some senses are better for some scenarios. For example: in a tracking scenario with long/fast strafes the scenario becomes easier with higher sens. But i believe you should do the oposite, become good at resetting at the right times with a low sens wich leads to improvement, sure you might get LOWER scores but you will improve. By changing your sensivity it allows you to scoremax but it dosnt mean you will become more consistent or better at all.
@Bardolo7 ай бұрын
yup, I meant using a large range of sensitivities across a large range of scenarios in aim trainers will probably be good because of the many different stimuli, so I agree yeah

Im not quite sure about the 35th percentile thing. The issue being all the cs2 pros except a few, play on really low sens 45-50 cm, and therefore taking the 35th percentile would mean even slower. I'm not quite sold on that idea especially while playing some wider static scenarios or smt like smoothbot.
@Bardolo7 ай бұрын
yeah I meant purely IN THE GAME - keep aim training with different sensitivities IMO. I'd never play smoothbot on 61.2cm but I have found that just staying on 61.2cm in tac fps, for example, gives me the highest consistency
@lobster_facts7 ай бұрын
@@Bardolo so you mean it gives you the highest consistency when you're not actively playing a lot, right? would it make sense to say that the higher sens you go, the more you have to warm up/be playing every day, then? like, if you got good at a higher sens, but stopped playing and came back, would you struggle more than someone who did so on a lower sens?
@Bardolo7 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think higher sens in general requires more time spent per day to stay consistent on for sure
@lobster_facts7 ай бұрын
@@Bardolo i wonder if you could apply this same logic to mousepads too. like a cerapad kin would require more time spent per day to stay consistent compared to something like a gsr
