Tranquil Paddington is an affluent residential neighbourhood known for its offbeat shopping scene, ranging from antiques stores to boutiques selling flamboyant vintage fashion and stylish homewares. The city views from the area’s many hills are another draw, along with vibrant brunch cafes, gastropubs and trendy global restaurants. Nearby, vast Suncorp Stadium hosts rugby and soccer matches and big-name concerts.
Petrie Terrace owes its party vibe to main Caxton Street, where boisterous sports bars and brewpubs sit alongside cosy speakeasies and wine lounges with dance floors. Steakhouses and casual Asian restaurants dot the street, which also has a cinema at one end. Nearby, the Victoria Barracks Museum shows military items in a colonial building and Brisbane Arts Theatre stages classic plays and kid-friendly performances.
