I'm pretty sure you're supposed to be rolling the dice to activate the core leaders they don't activate automatically you roll against their leadership rating on the counter I think the only time they activate without a roll is when you're using your Army leader or Advantage activation

I think you may be thinking of another game. I just checked the rules again and did not see anything that said about rolling for activation. And all the leader counters have a 7 value on them which is their movement value. I looked under rules section 8 and 9 and did not see anything about using a die roll for activation.

I own the sister game to this game it's called Lee and the seven days I just assumed they were played the same I just received this game in the mail yesterday haven't had a chance to read the rules yet thank you for the clarification
