Sampling an FM synth? Madness, pure madness
@tssf11 ай бұрын
I mean snes can do FM too. Just not nearly enough operators and you lose channels doing it

It's not perfect, but I did spend a good 10 hours on this. Surprised i fit it all into SPC ram. I have wondered if this wouldnever work on snes. I guess i got my answer. :)

Wow, this is an excellent translation. I'm wearing earbuds & the panning made me smile right away. Very cool!

This is excellent, Mat. I think you'd like the track, Dreamer, as well.

Someone asked me to do it but someone else already did! It's a nice track for sure. This was just me wanting to prove to myself that the song could be done haha

pssst - you should toss in the title that this is the beat mix version of the song
@Zenocide Жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm surprised he used the "Beat Mix" and not the one actually used while playing the game. Cool panning in the beginning? Personal preference?

There's just a lot more going on compared to the og

Some extra panning since the MD couldn't do it and I based it off of Mr Koshiro's PC88 versions he's posted. He also did SOR1 fighting in the street with a real 909 so I did something similar with this

I remember Sega fans arguing that this song proved the superiority of the Genesis audio system at that time. It looks like it's close to being debunked now😅
@tssf11 ай бұрын
I didn't want to just say it but yeah, it's true. Granted though, there's little room left for sound effects in an actual game environment lol
@danilonotsys11 ай бұрын
@@tssfYeap. If I remember correctly, even in the Genesis game programming they already did some kind of channel swapping to play sound effects along with this game music
@tssf11 ай бұрын
@@danilonotsys there's ways to sample stream but given the spc700's bandwidth I think that might be limited to like 12KHz samples, making the voice and sound effects super muddy.

@@tssf That is a very interesting info. I would like to find some time to delve deeper into the subject and the chipsynthSPC tool to help with a mod project called Ultimate Mortal Kombat Deluxe where a snes port of the Graveyard song is missing

@@tssf Didn't SoR2 use 8KHz voice samples on the Genesis, anyway?
