I like the enthusiasm of this speaker cabinet company.

I love my radical. It is a truly amazing cab. You have to hear it in person to 'get it', but this demo is an awesome! demonstration.

A dual rec, 5150, or like I use, the Revv 120 fit great on it and the cab handles the head without any issues.

I love how much clearer the Radical is! Even accounting for the expected differences between the 8Ω and 16Ω versions of the V30, the mids on the Marshall seem comparatively blurred whereas the Radical seems to focus them beautifully at a few points. If only my bank account wasn't an obstacle 😂

This is great that you’re doing these comparisons. There is definitely a difference. But, say for instance the AC/DC style riff through both cabs, I think you could do with a more robust kind of tone, with a bit more natural amp drive. A les Paul through say a JCM 800 on about 3 on the master, preamp on 9 or 10 is more the kind of tone. The fuzz box tone just doesn’t do it, like a box of bees. Total respect here for taking the time here to do the demo, I just want to hear the barefaced with an honest rock tone.

Chinese made Celestions are known to have tonality differences compared to UK made. Specially the 90’s UK made. It’s been tested quite a lot on youtube. I’m not saying it’s good or bad. It’s just a matter of taste. I owned both UK and China made of V30s, Greenbacks, and G12T-75. In the end, i’m in love with my 412 Hiwatt loaded with Fane Purple. I love that Radical 212 sounds and design!

@@studioruangsvara there’s so many subtle variations in guitar drivers, and the area around the break-up peaks and troughs is also a region where the guitar has a lot of tone and the human ear is particularly sensitive. We fit lots of different drivers to our cabs as customisations, and also supply them unloaded, with custom speaker hole sizes and bolt hole positions if needed - there are Barefaced AVD cabs with Fanes in them. Glad you’re loving what we’re doing!

Maybe this scenario will help some big amp users. According to John Suhr, if you run his reactive load as an extra “speaker” and use it in parallel with an 8 ohm cabinet and set the amp to 4 ohms (like on a Suhr SL68 for example) the the cab is getting only 50 watts instead of 100w BUT the user retains the headroom of a 100W amp. He likened it to an -3db attenuator that also gives a superb line out. i say all of this because that is the amp head and load box that I will use with my Radical 112SW. So while the redback is coming with the cab - I can also use other drivers like my alnico Cream and not worry.

Very interesting and entirely logical!

Just a tip, your speakers/cabs will sound better if you don't torque the screws super tight. Was just going to ask, why does the 2x12 just have insulation in one side?
@AndrewDeer13 күн бұрын
Would that Reformer with Redback work well with baritone tuning though? It feels it would lack a lot of that mud the larger cabinets bring along. Would Radical 112H or Mutiny 112V work better in that case? Also, I really loved the Radical and would ultimately prefer it, however, there's this sweet spot on the 4x12 when the "open" 022 (B5) chord plays at 17:45 that I'm somehow missing in the clarity of the Radical. Maybe that is achievable through shaping with the EQ?

I think we've demoed the Reformer with Redback and baritone (or downtuned piccolo bass!) Have a hunt through our youtube. If not we can add it to the list!

@@BarefacedAudio Oh yea that's true, in the last video hahah and I even watched it.. Well even so, it seems interesting compare Radical 112SW, Mutiny 112V, Usurper 112H and basic Reformer for heavier tunings, does that makes sense as a concept? The idea is, in the Jim Lill's video on this site, it seemed the size of the cabinet played probably the most significant role in the tone of the cabinet, or at least it seemed that way to me... so I wonder whether how that translates to an AVD cabinet.

Is there anyway to have a single cabinet (FRFR) to produce stereo? Either 2x12 or even a 4x10 that would also have a low end fat sound...i know it's allot to ask for but if anybody can do it... It's you guys@ Barefaced. Thnx&cheers
@BarefacedAudio2 күн бұрын
It's possible and something we've thought about doing but I'm not sure it really makes sense in 99.9% of scenarios. For stereo to work properly you want the left and right cabs separated so then it makes a lot more sense to have two Reality 112FR cabs - either place them side by side when you have to, or spread them wide apart when you can.

Your clip is a very bad representation of the Marshall 4x12, so I can't take you seriously.
