Everyone wants to jump straight to barefoot running.. barefoot hiking is the way! It's quite simple whether you're running or hiking tbf.. take your shoes off! Run or hike until your soles are sore, put your shoes back on. Rinse, repeat. Your soles will be like leather before you know it and all the other benefits will fall into place. Happy grounding x

@@Jonathan-Pilkington Indeed, that's the rub. The culture of the shoe is invisible in some ways. Being a shod people, with all of the connotations of civilization, it really would be cognitively dissonant if we all started walking barefoot again ... the symbol of backwardness and poverty in our times. Shoes have been around for thousands of years after all and the fact that the subject of healthy feet, shoe design and paying attention to this crucial interface with the ground as bi-pedal primates is encouraging.

@@astronite1220 she wasn't driving at the time, the coffee was criminally hot, and she wasn't the only person hurt by the bad practice of keeping the coffee at an excessive temperature (3rd degree burns scalding hot, too hot to handle or drink). You're poorly informed. But I agree liability issues in the US are a real issue. But the coffee case was Not one of those instances, that was a legit case of damages for actual harm caused. Barefoot runners have less overall injuries than those wearing shoes. Treadmills and running incorrectly with shoes causes far more harm than people running properly on such a treadmill would. Barefoot runners have stronger ankles, feet, better balance, less stress on their feet/knees....

@@astronite1220 I've been "barefoot" for the past 7 years continuously, year round. Both in deserts, Rocky mountains, and even snow in the northern US. I do wear shoes, but they offer no warmth (I rely on a set of socks for that in winter), no padding, no support, and no heel lift. They are like a mechanics glove, I can ball them up and put them in my pocket if I want. I hike local/state/national park trails in them, carry loads with them, do physical work in them. I feel every rock, tree branch, pointy object, etc beneath my feet. Yes it does hurt at times when i step on something undesirable, but I also find I respond faster to such situations too, and don't step as hard, resulting in few actual injuries from such objects. My ankles, calves and feet are stronger, and my balance is improved. It takes time to get used to it (weeks to months at least), to strengthen muscles, but my knees feel far better than ever (that I injured in Iraq), and when I run/climb I even push off the jagged edges of rocks. People are always amazed when they see me do it, and my family still make comments all these years later about my shoes and how they think I'm crazy. But the barefoot approach is far better, and the science backs it up. That doesn't mean everyone has to do it, just that it does work if you actually give it a chance. Just because you don't like it, doesn't make it wrong.

Transition from heel striking to forefoot striking is humbling. Heelsriker, that I was, I had degenerated my hamstrings and certain muscles to the degree of only being able to run 400 miles at a time, when I first tried it. So called neutral functional shoes with a damped zero drop sole can be utilised to run every style. So, You can run Your usual speed and distance and slowly but surely evolve Your running style from heel strike over full foot strike to forefoot strike.

Idk man. I run between 8 and 10 a day in plated running shoes. They are slowly causing my ankles to turn in on themselves but I’ve pushed so far into the discomfort that it actually kind of worked itself out. Heal striking w support when angled just right gives you way more energy for distance. I could be wrong, it has been known to happen.

If you pace yourself, i mean REALLY pace yourself, and run barefoot, or in ultraminimalist shoes... And have good form... There should be no reason why you hate running. You're either running too fast, or wrong. No pain, no gain is effing dumb. Life is long - slowly build up to your ancestors baseline.

@julioochoa8444
@julioochoa8444 2 жыл бұрын
I can see why you say that, however a healthy human should be able to run long distances without much pain. It doesn’t ruin your knees if you use proper form which is why people go barefoot or near barefoot/zero drop. You use different muscles to run and automatically it fixes your form and these muscles are rarely used. People get bad knees because they ran too long with bad form and bad cushiony shoes with arch support and extra heel cushion. People should be able to enjoy the god given beautiful gift of running.
