It's a 5 round fight. Eddie clearly won the first round, but the fight was starting to turn in the second. Blowing your wad in the first round and taking the round doesn't mean you win a fight.

Perry walked through all his strikes and eventually Perry landed and broke his orbital bone in his face. Alvarez quit because his orbital was fractured, not because he was tired.

Perry won. He knocked Alves down in the 1st with a hard left, Alves got up at 9, Big Dan didn't like the way Alves was moving around (he was stumbling) and stopped the fight. You could argue whether it was too early or not, but better too early than too late IMO, and I think Miragliotta gets the benefit of the doubt with all his experience.
