Very nice solution to a common problem. I do it a bit differently using more expensive tools that likely achieve the same effect :-) I'll be showing the method I use in an upcoming restoration video, and I'll be sure to direct folks to this video because it is a much better solution. Enjoyed the video. I must admit I've developed a few custom tools for pipe work. I wonder if perhaps I should consider pursuing some patents...hmmm....

I am at level 1, hopefully bees wax works, there is a 6mm filter, they sit rather snug and sometimes I squash filter when fitting, it it better to find other brand filters around get a reame like 6.1mm and ream the hole!?

Would a ice pick work?

Cesar Lopes yes I think it could, depending on how steep the angle is on the pick. It needs to be pretty gradual. Also, you may have to cut off the sharp end otherwise you may not be able to get it in far enough.

Why not just buy tools that are made for the job… You can buy a tenon expansion set online

Just a little note: "If it spins gloves are a sin!" Cant tell you how many serious hand injuries are acquired when spinning tools ' grab' that glove! A friend recently was working on table saw and " The blade was stopped- I swear!"- but it wasnt! Also watched a guy in the Navy loose his thumb in a large grinder. I myself ( ignoring the maxim)- have paid the price. Use pliers- but never gloves. Just looking out for you!
