I have a sia3500 and it doesn’t show it’s in protect mode, but it’ll occasionally turn off if it gets really hot or lately I’ve been playing with increasing my voltage to 15.5 and I’ve noticed it has turned off more frequently. It’s only about 2 months old. Does this sound abnormal? To turn off if it’s hot, but not light up protect mode? Would a taramps perform better than the sia line? I’m looking at upgrading from 3500 to about 5k
@barevidsАй бұрын
The taramps would perform world's better. As would a powerus. The Sia are poorly designed with flaws, especially in the power supply side. The power supply fets all run hot at idle, which is unheard of, due to the wrong smps switching frequency being used for the transformer that's fitted. Huge ringing spikes on the primary. That will be contributing to overheating especially at 15.5v. Also, the dead time is too low on the output side. I would go for a smart 5 bass/bigboss5 bass, or a powerus PW5000. You'll love them.
@jonny8547Ай бұрын

What’s your opinion on taramps DS line that is intended for mids and highs. I have a 440 ds running my jl c3 650 and they sound great. I think sound quality depends more on your main source (streaming apps, cd; usb) and the dac in your headunit. I use tidal on max.
@PoXFreakАй бұрын
That voltage/output clamp should be standard on every new Taramps amp going forward. We would see a lot less people bashing them when they fail because they didn't have proper electrical. Very few pay attention to the cardinal rule regarding amplifier power (10 amps to every 100 watts) and think they can just install a smart 3 or 5 on stock electrical that only produces 120-140 amps before hitting battery voltage.

feed them with identical signal, and between 20-200hz they will sound absolutely identical. The most important factor for nice sounding subwoofer application is dynamic headroom, so the more power available the better. For mids and highs, especially vocal and tweeter range, the amplifier "sound quality" matters a lot. but not for subwoofer use. Only how you have the filter slopes set and how much power you have. @barevidsАй бұрын
My advice is to not worry about or put any thought to impedance rise. It's a resultant, not a variable. 😎 It's not a bad thing and you can't control it, per se. But in your example, without knowing any details about the subs or box in question, it would be likely that the single sub will rise more. But please don't let that make you make any decisions about your system!

@@barevids thanks I appreciate your quick response in all honesty I’m going to wire down to .25 on a JP83 on (4) dual 2 ohm 12’s deaf bonce sa305 subs and the box is approximately 7.56cubic ft in a trunk tuned to 29 hz with about 16inchs of port area per cubic inch 400amp alt 11k fards of ucaps and 45 amp hour c-max I was thinking of tuning that amp low at the load maybe 120 volts ac don’t know everything electronics related is a science experiment in my world again love to learn and mix different ideas up from different people also I’m not a fan of any brand I’m a fan of functionality thanks mate!

@@joeinline4443 I wouldn't do this, honestly. 0.25 might be okay for a few seconds in the lanes. Not long term for music or demos. But if you are absolutely dead set on it, keep your LPF VERY low. Like, 40hz 12db rolloff at most. Rise is generally greater at lower freqs. Car subs suck huge power at higher freqs and that's usually what smokes coils.

Have you done any videos on the bassface team red amps I've been hearing they are incredible value and outperforming the taramps at many UK shows. I just want to know if there's much between them?
@barevids4 күн бұрын
@@hammyzgod value yes, 5k for like 230gpb is insanely cheap. Outperforming taramps no, they are a poorly cloned soundigital at best.

Then why have people been switching! I'm not that tech savy but I've heard from several people that they are getting more from the equivalent bassface models?
@hammyzgod4 күн бұрын
I'm in 2 minds which way to go as I've ran taramps in the past but I've been told recently that the new team reds are far superior.
@barevids4 күн бұрын
@@hammyzgod I haven't heard anything like that or that anyone is switching. So would love to speak to these people to ask what they switched from and to.
@hammyzgod4 күн бұрын
@barevids I know of 3 people that have switched from taramps to the new bassface as of now! I know they were originally Chinese knockoffs of taramps but I've been told the new team reds are insanely good and was just wandering what your input was as I said to you before I'm not all that tech savy when it comes to these things but was told most bassface development is now done in the uk and Italy.

Hey, I've seen that your old Basso Profondo links are dead, but I found some of them on my old drive, maybe if you lost the files I can send you some ^^

I’m hoping the big boss 3 is built the same way with the new tech in this one

What's stopping you from having your own amplifier line?

It's a completely different skill set to find faults and repair something, and evaluate how well optimised something is, to building something from scratch. It's a bit like saying to the best mechanic in your area, who could pretty much fix any problem with any car, and comment on poor design choices by manufacturer, to build his own car from scratch.
