Maybe I missed it, but what's the difference between the Smart8 and the Smart8Bass? The only thing I notice is the "bass" version is rated down to 0.5ohms and at 14.4v, but the normal Smart8 says the 8k is at 12.6v Also, do you know why they recommend 400amps of fusing when 8k+ rms would be more than double that?

Reminder to those unaware: The dynamic tests catch the smart circuit off-guard, so it makes power based purely on ohms law and circuit component limitations! This is an 8kw 2ohm amplifier, at 1ohm it will try to make 16kw thus 14k after losses checks out, beyond that the transformers appear to saturate at around 18kw... On music/tones this power isn't usable since the smart circuit will attenuate the signal level to maintain ~8kw, even before the termlab has taken a full average pressure reading! This amp is perfect for a daily basser and those not wanting to ever clamp more than 10KW during demos :D Great video as always buddy, I am working on mine on the Big Boss 8 as we speak!

Awesome, I've been really curious about the Big Boss. I'll probably put 1 per sub at .5ohm on my Crossfire xt3 18's. Does the smart technology kick in on burps, or does it just limit it while ohm loads are fluctuating on music. Might be a dumb question, lol😂

These amps shit on every other amp Ive had. I use to believe the internet bs about taramps, then I tried a smart 5. It was supposed to be temporary until I could afford a "quality amp". It sounded great. Then I bought a D4S jp64. I thought the smart5 sounded better and definitely hit harder lower. After that I bought a Dd M8000. I was so pumped. Then I installed it and was instantly disappointed. Again the smart 5 hit harder in the wider frequencies. I figured it had to be broken. I got it replaced and there was no difference. So I bought a smart 8 bass for $600 and it crushes all other amps Ive tried, without factoring cost. Hits harder and lower. Dont believe the haters.They have never owned one and just repeat what the internet told them to say. I was one of these ignorant people. Smart Line from Taramps for the win!

And can't forget the size! I have 3000w in a very small space under my seat with the smart 3k. I got it over 4 years ago and was worried it would catch fire or something, but it has been very reliable and I've had it shut off many times dipping into 11v and it started back up without issues. Sometimes it does have a quiet high pitched noise until it warms up though, thats my only issue.
@johnd55428 ай бұрын
@KurtisPape Ya size is crazy per watt. The fan on mine started making a high pitch squeel. I replaced both them with high quality fan and it was way quieter. Only took like 20mins to fix. I might buy the new Boss 8, they are selling them in black now.

@netorodrigs21008 ай бұрын
In fact, here (Brazil) these modules are tortured and companies are heavily charged to produce equipment that delivers what they promise. Amps like these are widely used in outdoor and competition sound systems, and therefore such equipment must be reliable when you need it most. And without a doubt, Brazilian consumers boycott and "destroy" any brand that is not honest with its specifications. There are also influencers like the INFINITY SOM channel that carry out power tests here to inform the public whether a product is really good or whether it is rubbish.

But, what happens to aftermarket car audio if we in America are supposed to go to "All Electric Vehicles"? I don't hear anyone talking about it. However, it can't be good! There's no alternator to generate more power, and do you really want to add more batteries? Even then, you got your system cranking how long they gonna last? And if you connect to the cars batteries you are going to seriously decrease the range of the vehicle. So I'm worried about aftermarket car stereo business.

I have been wanting to build a experimental system. With an hybrid sealed/ported enclosure with an aperiodic membrane, possibly use poly fill compressed into a 12"x12" x4" deep frame with 1/8" expanded metal on the front and rear to hold in the poly fill. Possibly make a sliding cover to tune the leakage, I have seen free air subs in SQ. Systems, I like sound quality, but never really went full on SQ, seems it would behave similar to a ported enclosure, only without the added performance from the port. I like the sound of sealed enclosures. Just looking for a way to remove some of the volume from the enclosure, I guess a iso baric arrangement could work. Maybe a custom built sub Could be the answer. I like 12" 15" 18" subs, 10" is questionable , and 8" I'm like why bother? If you are going to spend the money. And want the sound, may as well go big as possible. My latest car, I'm thinking maybe 4, 12" subs in a isobaric configuration, I have a small trunk, and even getting 12" subs will be very difficult it's a dumb design trunk, very little access to the small trunk. Not sure what they were thinking. It may require 10" I may just go the cheap and easy way, and go with 4-6, maybe 8,10" subs in a seal enclosure. Nothing crazy, something similar to the kicker comps of the mid to late. ,90's I really liked the kicker impulse shame it went away. Maybe I can buy the components, motors and baskets and build a custom set. Make some kevlar and carbon fiber cones and dust caps, heck it could be a business. A 12" and 15" with a 4" coil, and the new magnets that are better than neodymium and supposedly cheaper made in USA. It's possible to cast aluminum at home, make molds from foam , do lost foam casting or buy some blown sundown 12''s or something to start do a re-cone/coil. And use non-glue spiders, use retainer ring's possibly retain the rubber surrounds the same way. They make some very interesting carbon fiber with kevlar, aluminum, fiberglass, different weaves, patterns, even aluminum and titanium mesh, with multiple colors and thicknesses , maybe one to two layers of thin carbon fibe, with a really thin layer of a sound deadener like material to help tune the resonant frequency of the cone and motor structure. Probably just a ring if the material around the cone between the two layers, a 4" copper coil. With dual 1 ohm coils, maybe quad half ohm coils, or quad 1 ohm, that would be better for large subs , 18"+ the Mass would be crazy, each coil being 2-3 layers, each coil made from 18 gauge copper, maybe a cooper clad would be better, or a carbon fiber former or titanium. To lighten it up. Or a hybrid former, the quad coil can be wired for .25, or 4 or 2 ohm, or. Run 4 or 2 amps per sub, this isn't practical these days with the large class D amps available the class a/b amps ,1000 watts was huge, and roughly $1/watt for quality amps . A 20+lb 12" sub does sound exciting!.. especially with carbon kevlar cones with colorful accent weaves. Do a vacuumed epoxy resin infusion, and a 10 ton press, using a hardwood die with a positive and negative profile in the woods to press cure the cones and another to press the dust caps. Maybe use UV cure resin to attach the coil and dust cap. Attempting to get a X, max of 25mm one way, so 45-50 mm two way excursion, should do 18-50Hz really well especially with a strong heavy coil handling 1kw per coil plus RMS, could be a cool project to build something you can't buy!

Not to mention how safe is it to be sitting on a giant microwave in the EV's? Back in the 1920's there were 10 electric car manufactureres in America. However, they put the batteries under the hood, or trunk. You did not sit on them? Curious why now EV's of today have people sitting on a giant magnetic field. Another thing not brought up about EV's. I don't think its safe myself. Not to mention the fires you can't get put out when they start, and the price of insurance because any damage insurance just totals the car. In most wrecks the battery gets damaged even when the rest of the car may see little damage. Just a thought, and wondered if you thought about EV's as well. Thanks. Great channel.

Do amps perform better with the bass remote or doesn't matter? Would it be like test driving a car w/o oil?

I prefer to have adjustment at my driving position so I can adjust as needed since I listen to a lot of different types of music

Why do you take the Fluke away when you do the dynamic test?
@envisionelectronics8 ай бұрын
Because it’s not a true RMS VA meter which is needed for peak power measurements with switching power supplies. The measurement the Fluke takes is relatively useless and would require an in depth explanation which is beyond the scope of this channel.

The wireless fluke won’t do inrush current so the results would not be accurate

So Taramps have finally included protection circuitry so the amps don't blow up at low Ohms.. About time.
