I do appreciate these, Yang. I live on a large river in America which has "barge traffic" carrying rock, scrap iron, and petroleum (going the other direction). But my barges are not motorized, they are lashed together, 3 abreast and maybe 5 long, propelled by a boat which pushes them. My river has "locks" to carry the barges from one water level to another and it is not possible for all of the barges to fit within the lock, so the push boat (oddly enough called a "towboat") must work them though the locks, one section at a time.

Thanks for sharing! Our waterway system is a little different, the barges have independent engines and unload automatically. The locks you mentioned are the boat lifting systems at hydroelectric dams. We also go through them often.
