It is very different than Z with the training but in OG Dragon Ball, this is how Goku and Krillin trained. They pretty much did chores for Master Roshi with turtle shells strapped to their back. OG Dragon Ball was also lighthearted however it did have its intense moments like Z.

And if you think back to most of dragon ball and when Goku trained under king Kai, he would always whine and question the ridiculousness of the things he would be forced to do by his teachers. When you think about it, for most of Z Goku didn’t train under any master, after king Kai he mostly trained himself. Super is a return to having goku as a learner and demonstrating there are higher levels of strength and training he can master from the gods like Beerus and Whis.

This is how Goku is supposed to be. You can see this Goku in Manga when things arent serious. Here things arent serious so you will see Goku more goofy. In Z scene where Gohan gets angry seeing Videl getting beaten at tournament,Goku wasnt serious in the manga whereas he was serious in anime. Toei did changed few scenes to be honest. This is toriyama's Goku when things arent serious.

No he cant sense god ki, Vegeta in the Moro arc noticed that when Goku used MUI he couldnt use instant transmission to save Goku until he can sense his Ki so, Goku and Vegeta still cant.

@@causticabuser2466 what? Goku and Vegeta could sense eachother many times while in SSjB which uses God ki. They could sense Black and Zamasu. They could also sense Beerus. You are wrong. If anything UI Goku was too fast and not becouse Vegeta couldnt sense him. There were many instances Goku couldnt use IT in stress situation btw.

thats champa ( beerus brother) the god of destruction and the lady is an angel (whis sister), you will know after ROF arc is done. arc coming up are U6 vs U7 goku black arc Top arc- which toournament of power ( multiversal tournament) you will know soon enough that goku does infact go ultra instinct and mastered of it too in the manga ( after top arc) goku does infact do it at will and creates his own UI form and vegeta gets another form called ultra ego ( god of destruction form)

Goku was dumb in his decision making in DB and DBZ. Not as dumb as Chiaotzu but still. What people call him being an irresponsible parent in Z is his dumb innocent side coming out. It's his true nature. In Super, it is just played up for comedy and used in the plot more. Even when Tien is trying to kill him, he randomly smiles because he realizes he can use his full power without killing Tien and he starts ebbing from enjoying the fight to being pissed at Tien for taking cheap shots and being a dirtbag. He's not a person who can override how punch happy he is in a good fight. Even fighting Cell, he was smiling and enjoying himself.

Well they changed the presentation of his original personality by adding visual gags you can't cover up. Goku was the guy in Z that spared Vegeta because he wanted to fight him again, not morals like the OG dub, and wanted Buu to come back to life as a good person so he could just fight him forever. He doesn't spare people for moral reasons. If they really Americanized the dub of Super again they could get around what you may perceive as stupidity but in Super they are playing up his original character traits for comedic effect so it would more awkward to change. It's like how they try to cover up Roshi's perviness or needing to take a dump on the plane to the martial arts tournament in OG DB's dub. You know what it is visually even if the English dub is giving you a different reason. Especially when that reason doesn't make sense given he was on a plane on the first trip to the tournament and didn't have a problem. Super would have the same issue keeping that Superman morals Goku given all the visual gags. You have to make him like he was and keep the visual gags. They do a good job in ToP and Broly of bringing back some seriousness in the fighting because there are stakes.
