Great review, Gabe. I noticed it's the knife you used in your previous video making the bamboo pot, too.

New subscriber here....and soon to be a Trakker owner after it gets back from the spa. Thanks for the the great video, I've done a lot of research on this type of blade but your take on it finally pushed me to purchase. I live in Costa Rica so can't wait to see this beast in my jungle! Keep up the great work, stay safe :)

Excellent stuff. I have a few Bark River knives and you can beat the crap out of them (just don't beat on hardened lava - not good). I wish the grind next to the handle was more of a scandi grind... the hollow grind although makes the edge thinner, I think it weakens it. It transitions to the saber grind on the belly (chopping, slicing etc.). The small section is fantastic for hogging off wood for Bushcraft type chores (notches, carving and as you have shown - feather sticks), as well as, for using it as a draw knife - but I do wish it was scandi like on the William Collins Master Woodsman. Yeah it'd be nice to have more of a higher saber grind on the belly but it's doable...and useable. Again...thanks for the video and of course love the area you film. All the VERY BEST!
@yolandareyes5187 жыл бұрын
Wow! What a knife. It is a beast. I love the thickness of it. I like your presentation. Very nice! If the grind was higher, would it increase the price of the knife?

my thought really is this at the end of the day, the one tool option is a folly of the times, you'll always want multiple tools on you as well as a backup knife.
@gabehumphries54837 жыл бұрын
woodcraft camper yes in my opinion every knife pretty much is a multi-tool and can act as a one tool option in quite a few cases. I just think there should be a difference between a survival knife and the ever-elusive one tool option. If someone spends enough time in the outdoors the majority of them come to realize that there's no such thing as a tool option that does everything perfect. Even a lightsaber has issues LOL Mahalo for watching
@n8mayfield7 жыл бұрын
only beef I've had with the bark river trakkers is the square transition on the quarter rounder. It's as if the people making the tool didnt have any experience with it. I actually see it alot. However, not to take anything away from the video, I really enjoyed it, and I appreciate the time it took you
@gabehumphries54837 жыл бұрын
n8mayfield that transition part makes really good feather sticks when used as a drawknife and is razor sharp . Mahalo for watching

I honestly do not consider the Tom Brown Tracker to even be a knife, its more of a survival tool. Ment to do a lot of things good ( not great), but have many options. And to the people that wanna eat up everything Nutnfancy says, well hes just one guy with one opinion. Go get one in your hand and test it for yourself before you judge.

Great video. Also the movie is called "The Hunted", not "the hunt" as you state in this video. And the handle material is pronounced "My-kart-ah", not "mar-ky-dah". "Mar-ky-da" is the dude from the tv show "forged in fire". Lol. Doug Marcaida.

This is an awesome knife shoulder strap maybe needed cuz it's heavy , a D ring at the tip and another one at the dangler you can shave wood make bows even just like with a draw knife Batoning wood with no fear nor hesitation damaging the knife it's safe Bolo and kukri step a side there is a new kid on the block convex and flat or even chisel " single bevel " grind would hold the edge "A2" steel is great you can raise the cheeks with a DMT diamond , it's doable I changed a lot of my knives made them completely flat . this is an AAA+ knife it's a draw knife chisel axe hatchet knife

well ...keep up the good work mate I like your posts and there is a question I wanted to ask you but I keep forgetting and that is because you're in Hawaii and you have on regular bases lava oozing somewhere what about if you have this lava in a mold if you can and see if you can have one of a kind sharpening stone , I don't know if it's doable or possible , you know Japan have the best sharpening stones in the world and they are a volcanic island just like Hawaii , maybe you make a good business selling rocks as sharpening stones.
@gabehumphries54837 жыл бұрын
cking_closure unfortunately why is too young to have developed good stone for sharpening. The oldest island is not even a million years old and I'm on the youngest one. I believe the islands of Japan are much older volcanic yes but also the Earth has had time to compress. Mahalo
